Are West Ham Poised To Exploit Tottenham’s Exposed Position?

According to various sources including SkySports Joe Rodon is now Tottenham’s first choice for a new centre-back. This is after the Premier League window has closed, but top flight sides are still able to do deal with Championship clubs for another 9 days.

The 22-year-old wouldn’t ordinarily be a player to generate much excitement, but after José Mourinho’s incisive scouting so far, one can’t help but get a teensy bit excited at the prospect of another pick from the Special One. The only spanner (or Hammer) in the works, is that Tottenham’s position is incredibly exposed. The word is out that we had a £7million bid rejected, and that Swansea City are looking for nearer the £20million mark for the Welshman.

Jacob Steinberg of the Guardian believes that West Ham could be primed to step in and entice the player to East London. With Tottenham’s failed bid in the public domain, it would arguably make it easier for another side to come in and negotiate a deal.

After a dodgy start to the season the spammers have just recorded two excellent results beating Wolves and Leicester without conceding a goal. And Ogbonna had Vardy in his pocket.
Whilst there is no guarantee this form will continue they could give us a tough time after the International break, but then they usually do.I would feel confident if it was a straight choice between us and them he would chose us.
Incidentally don’t rule out a move by Leeds having lost out on Ben White again.

I think the issue is they are looking like they are one good centre half away from achieving. Which means as a young centre half, you need to be 100% sure that you can step up. This lad needs to join up with an expereinced player, not be the main CB.

Was thinking exactly that thing.

I think West Ham are a more appealing draw than some on here are crediting them with. From what I’ve seen this season, a solid centre half could be just what they need to kick on. For sure, the lad would prefer to come to us, but let’s not allow arrogance to mess this up. If he’s as good as reports are saying, Levy needs to stop the lowballing and get a deal done, before the price gets driven up further.

Why do we make such derogatory offers? It should be obvious to Levy by now that this sort of insulting offer will be rebuffed and likely annoy the other side into the bargain. We should have gone in with £10-12m for starters, that would have shown Swansea some respect. Has Levy not learnt from the Grealish debacle?

If José wants him, levy will get him. Levy likes reasonably priced young players with sell on value. (He’ll always try to get them for less than a reasonable price though. On west ham. who’d choose a caravan over a mansion

Crikey, that’s thrown a spammer in the works. The only way Wet Sham will get him is if they kidnap him. They only thing they are likely to do is help drive up the price.

I would be shocked if the player would take West Ham at this point. Not if he knows his stock is on the rise and Spurs (or another top club) are interested. West Ham are notoriously frail at teh back, and it would be very easy for a young center half to lose his reputation.
