Antonio Conte states there’s no worry regarding Tottenham’s contract extension talks with Hugo Lloris

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’ contract will expire in June, and he’s yet to reach a new deal with the north London club. Furthermore, a report suggests that Ligue 1 side OGC Nice will pursue the 35-year-old this summer.

Despite not reaching a contract extension yet with Spurs, the Evening Standard relayed manager Antonio Conte’s remarks, who states that there’s no worry on his end and is confident that Tottenham can reach a new deal with their captain.

“I think so, I think so,” Conte said. “I think Hugo wants to stay in this club, he loves this club, he stays well in Tottenham. I think this could be his opinion.”

“Hugo is Tottenham captain. For sure, he will talk with the club to try to find a solution.”

Should Tottenham move on, they did bring in Pierluigi Gollini on loan from Atalanta to see if he’s the candidate to replace Lloris eventually. Still, he’s only made eight appearances, with none of the starts coming in Premier League competition.

Nice will hope to lure him back to the club that Lloris made his first-team debut, and the French club is in a fight for a UEFA Champions League that could entice him to return. However, there’s also the possibility of heading to the United States and playing in MLS.
