Antonio Conte comments on why Tanguy Ndombele didn’t feature against Chelsea

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur fell 1-0 to Chelsea as they crashed out in the EFL Cup in the semi-finals. One player who didn’t make the squad for the second leg matchup was Tanguy Ndombele.

During his news conference with the media, Spurs manager Antonio Conte was asked why the 25-year-old didn’t feature in the squad for the matchup against The Blues; the Italian tactician’s response made it seem like a club decision to keep him out.

“It was a technical decision, but before to take the decision, I don’t take the decision if I don’t consult the club; there is the club line, and I have to follow the club line,” Conte said, whose words relayed by Express.

Over the weekend, the midfielder endured boos from some of the home supporters, and it seemed as though that might have played a role in keeping the France international out of the lineup.

Furthermore, there are rumors of Tottenham hoping to find a buyer for Ndombele, who wants out of the Premier League club. As a result, they might not want to risk the player getting hurt while working out a deal to offload him this month.

It will be interesting to see if Ndombele appears in the North London Derby this weekend.

You celebrating top four like they are trophies is hilarious… The game is about winning, not getting third or fourth.. I imagine you celebrating your Botchy top fours with plenty of champagne and cake…. Billy Nic won the league, won the double, won in Europe. He won 8 major trophies… Botch won zero.. There is no comparison.

Grandad Glory said he was the best. After all of his nonsensical posts it’s hardly suprising.. Botch won nothing in 6 years. He built his team and lost the league to Leicester and Arsenal in the 2 horse race. Lost cups while Birmingham Portsmouth and Stoke managed to win them. He lost two finals. There was years where he was ‘berry appy’ even though you weren’t, the bumbling patsy was.. So many stupid decisions. A one trick pony regarding his tactics and high press. Wrong team selections for crucial games. Always too late and ineffective subs. He infamously preferred small squads and this backfired every year.. He possibly overtrained players, not managing rest times and recovery properly.. He won nothing.. Your hero and idol was a loser.

Arry made a play fior the England job apparently, he also won no silverware.

Nobody’s saying he was our best ever manager but he’s certainly one of the best. If you get fellas in their sixties saying that the Pochettino team was the best they’ve seen since Bill’s day, that deserves recognition. Unless of course you have some irrational dislike of the man…

Pochettino’s league placings over four seasons were better than any other Spurs manager, including Bill Nic. That doesn’t make him better than Bill of course. He also got us to our one and only ever appearance in the club game’s biggest game.

However being dismissive about those achievements because he didn’t win a pot (like the devalued League Cup) lacks perspective. Ramos was better than Pochettino in that case!? Yeah right.

Exactly.. Bill Nic is hands down best manager.. I also loved the Schnapps era.. Also the El Tel era but I was a young lad back then.

I don’t take anything you say seriously because of constant posts like this ☝.. Best manager who couldn’t manage to win a dime bar in 6 long years. Your nostalgia goggles are coated with delusion.. The games about winning.. I thought schnapps team was more exciting than Botchys. Larger squad with more balance and options. Not much between them but Botch made strange questionable managerial decisions from the beginning until the end. It cost him cups and the league… I’ve been calling him Botch on here (along with other posters if you look back) since about 2 years in to his reign. He was always trying to fit square pegs in to round holes as Harold was describing it.. Nearly a decade later this nickname isn’t changing I’m afraid.. Botch is a brilliant coach, not so brilliant manager.. It’s why he is struggling now at PSG to get the likes of Messi, Mbappe and Neymar firing properly… Nicknames come from a place of love Grandad Glory… Schnapps, Botch, Maureen are funny nicknames with truth attached. They are not cheap shots and doesn’t mean I disrespect or have no love for them… I’m in my late 30s Grandad Glory, I’ve done all my growing up.. How about you try lightening up for once? Or actually talking about the football rather than waffle … I can write you a book on why Botch failed with us, his mistakes were endless.

Yeah Poch was never the best manager we had. The same manager who was trying to get a move to man united. The same manager that used us last season to get a better deal from PSG. He won nothing and will be remembered for winning nothing

That best manager never won anything despite having enough chances, so that’s nonsense, you obviously didn’t rate Bill Nic and Keith Burks, and as for best football, I loved the Bale era with Arry.

The football team is an inconvenience and Levy will ignore any supporter noise and continue to further the Enic objectives. Don’t expect anything to change. Vile bunch are Enic.

It’s hard to take somebody seriously who keeps referring to the best manager we’ve had in living memory where we played the best football I can remember (and I’m in my 60’s), as “Botchy”. Cheap shots. Grow up.

In my opinion ENIC we’re never expecting to be in this position, to have a weight of expectation with the team. That’s partly down to Pochettino’s work and partly down to building “The Best Stadium In The World’, ok, so what’s next? Mr big trousers? 🤔

Did they even have a plan past the new gaff other than joining a Super League? Not as far as I can see…

It seems he feels the club and Levy are cloth eared and don’t understand what big clubs actually do. Changing the fabric of this malaise and culture in the club is a tough arduous job, changing Levy nigh on impossible and realistically needs a new chairman.

This ‘technical decision’ means they are trying to sell him… I remember years ago Botchy saying the same ‘technical decision’ when Trippier and Toby were left out of the squad. Both Trips and Toby were trying to leave. Hopefully Ndom is in talks with someone.

Same as it ever was Same as it ever was. You have to hand it to Levy he keeps on hanging on in there.

“The club line”… interesting.

Conte will not hang around, his initial enthusiasm is slowly morphing into frustration. He is a passionate man who will move on very quickly if he feels he’s being made to look a chump. Half way through January and no business done, even to help in the short term, something needs to happen and quick otherwise he’s gone.

This will be a case of “yeah, I’ve had a good look, and you’ve got about six or seven players decent enough to hang around. The rest are bottom-half material. I’m off, I’ve had enough of this sh*t…”
