This season, Tottenham Hotspur got off to a slow start leading to the sacking of Nuno Espírito Santo. The north London club would appoint Antonio Conte as their manager, and the Italian tactician has turned the ship.
Despite having Spurs in a fight for a top-four finish, Conte wants everyone to know that there’s much work to do after Tottenham’s disappointing results this week. Tottenham fell 3-2 to Southampton and 2-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“I am telling you from my arrival that we have to struggle every game,” Conte said, per Sky Sports.
“There are a lot of jobs to do, but it is not simple because the environment is used to play for Champions League, Europa League, but everyone maybe has to realize something has changed and you have to try to work to build again, and we have to know this.”
Over the January window, Spurs did make a couple of additions after they made a swoop for Juventus duo Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur. Nonetheless, Conte understands that there’s more work to be done to fix the roster.
After the loss to Wolves on Sunday, Conte questioned the winning mentality on the squad, and it’s clear that this summer, he doesn’t want to add players to fill needs. The Italian tactician wants players who have that winning mentality and won’t fold when they face pressure.

What we need is a reboot and a new 5 year plan
Great more building!
The hunt for the painful rebuild continues.
Bottom line is this team is bang average mid table at best. It cannot have helped the team to see 4 players shipped out during the last window and only 2 brought in. That is fairly major disruption and is testimony to the poor scouting and purchasing arrangements currently choking the team; it is also part of our recent history under Levy. You have to ask what kind of message does that send out to the players? In addition you have to say that the 2 players brought in were not first choice and typical of Levy came at the eleventh hour. How much longer can this nonsense go on for? I’ve settled on the position that you could bring in a couple of first rate players and we would still struggle because there is a malaise at the club which cascades down directly from Levy. Until he goes nothing will change. If rumours are to be believed then that will not be any time soon even if he is offered shed loads of money to disappear. Meanwhile I have adjusted expectations to take care of my own sanity.
Spurs fans have been calling for this since 2015 …
