American Investors see their bid to buy into Tottenham Hotspur rejected

American businesses and businessmen are buying into football, whether they own a minority or majority stake in a club. In the Premier League, Manchester United, Liverpool FC, and Arsenal are a couple of clubs in England whose owners are American.

According to The Daily Record, LAMF Global Ventures, a Los Angeles-based special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), identified Tottenham Hotspur as its Premier League target that they wanted to buy into; however, they saw the club reject their proposal.

Special advisor Keith Harris pitched the SPAC’s valuation of the north London club in a recent meeting with chairman Daniel Levy, only for the bid to be rebuffed.

Majority owner Joe Lewis is ready to entertain the idea of an investment proposal, recently demonstrating Singaporean entrepreneur Forrest Li around their new stadium and training ground. Nonetheless, Levy is objected to Spurs relisting on a stock exchange.

Purchase of the club’s share capital by a SPAC, whether partial or complete, would need Tottenham to relist on a stock exchange for the first time since 2012.

“It will be nothing to do with valuation and all about the fact that Spurs would have no interest in a SPAC. If they wanted to go public, they certainly wouldn’t need to do it through a SPAC,” a source close to the situation said.

Industry experts concur that an off-market takeover from a private individual or business may be a more practical method of utilizing the value produced by Tottenham’s £1-billion-plus infrastructure investments.

You have to be careful what you wish for.
We don’t want to sell our soul and do a Citeh or a Rent FC and have to build an extra large trophy cabinet.

I can see that tbf ..it’s dreamy but wouldn’t it be cool if one of em took over and said “ I’ll show you how to run a football club”. and did just that.

In my mind Levy will not give up control to anyone. In the event of Lewis deciding to sell or his children making that decision I believe Levy will try to raise the money to buy their share of the club. This is his toy and he isn’t sharing it with anyone.

Covid and the NFL season ends this weekend. I’d imagine there will be two NFL games later this year.

Something headed by a Soros. No thanks I’d rather stick with Lewis and Levy, then have any of them have any dealings with our club.

“Nothing to do with valuation” yeah right! Presumably if they relist then the resulting share price will make a mockery of Daniel’s £3bn valuation.

None of it matters unless the monster Levy is removed.

Maybe this is where the NFL pitch could really make the difference…. especially when it comes to naming rights..guess we just have to monitor.
