All or Nothing – Daniel Levy brutal sacking of Mauricio Pochettino will leave Spurs fans shocked

By Bruce Grove -

Journalists have been given a preview of the upcoming behind the scenes Tottenham series All or Nothing and they have not been slow to leak some of what they have seen.

There is quite a bit that has been revealed but the one that has stuck out for me has been the revelation about how Daniel Levy sacked Mauricio Pochettino.

It appears that the actual sacking has not been filmed or if it has, it has not made the episodes that the journalists have previewed, however, a conversation between Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Harry Kane was captured and it is very revealing.

Apparently Alderweireld and Vertinghen were sat together in the canteen and were then joined by Kane and this is part of the conversation that has been reported by FoxSports,

“I spoke to him last night,” Kane says.

“Apparently they knew already no?” Vertonghen asks

“No…” Kane corrects. “The chairman came in and said ‘can I talk’ and said ‘you’re being sacked, you need to pack your things and you leave tonight’.”

Well, that for me is a wow moment, the brutality of ‘you’re being sacked, you need to pack your things and you leave tonight’ is mind-blowing, Levy takes absolutely no prisoners, regardless of who you are or what you have done for the club.

Well done that man, for saying it in a nutshell. This club should have periods of being a formidable footballing force. My dad is 90 today , when he was 21 we won the title , when 31 we won the double. I cant believe he thought he would be 90 & not seen another single 1. It is a disgrace. On 1 article i saw about Gazzas free kick , it said Arsenal may have won the league , but they are gutted because the FA cup is the 1 they really wanted. Total crap & another example of our small mindedness. Heres Cliff Jones everybody waving at you, applaud him. 60 years ffs. We beat Arsenal , lets make a dvd of wins v them. Sell a few. Lets have trophies & new people to talk about

Repeating it over and over again ain’t gonna change anything. Just gotta roll with the punches man. That or get nicked trying to do something about it.

I think you are missing the point once again. Enic is a property speculator who have alighted on a London borough to take advantage of depressed property values to enhance their NAV at the expense of hundreds of local businesses who were forced out. I agree that Levy has done a good job enriching himself and Lewis by his actions but my question is, has he done a good job for Spurs? His recent actions furloughing the staff and then charging the council for security and cleaning whilst storing food were despicable but a good example of his playbook. . Have local businesses benefited from Enic? It strikes me that on match days, local bars, pubs and eateries are being squeezed out by the new stadium’s hospitality. I am trying to make the point that Enic’s NAV , and Levy’s personal wealth are the only things that matter to them. Spurs, who continue to be the anchor tenant, are a secondary issue. As long as he can claim that we are self sufficient, Enic are happy if we can maintain a top four spot. This is the extent of our ambition.

Having sacked a few people in my time I can tell you that it gets easier the more you do it and Levy has had plenty of practice!

Levy is scum we all know that, those of us with brains anyway. The buck should stop with him rather than all the managers he’s sacked because he didn’t have the bottle to support any of them in the transfer market. Anyone who supports this grotesque little man needs a lobotomy quite frankly. Had he of brought in Dybala and Bruno Fernandez last summer we would have got top 4 without a doubt in my mind, and Poch would likely still be around. Poch should have gone to RM where he’d of been appreciated. I still think he’s a manager who has got the magic touch because getting that team to a CL final without any support from Levy proves it.
But we have to move on and support the new manager, but how long will he stick around because Levy won’t buy him the players he wants, instead he’ll buy cheap copies. Jose is on to a loser with the little time waster, every manager will be. When Jose walks the job will be considered a poison chalice.
I bet we start the season with just the 1 striker and Aurier as RB. Thank god Leeds keeps me sane because this lot do my head in! I don’t bother looking at Spurs transfers anymore as I know there won’t be any until deadline day. What a joke.

It is quite right that managers should be hired and fired for their results. T’was ever thus but in this day and age, there is little or no patience. Utd nearly sacked Fergie and Klopp’s first seasons were a matter of some debate. It was time for Poch to go, he had had enough of Levy’s nonsense, but when is Levy going to be held accountable for his failure to turn THFC into a formidable footballing force. He has had enough time. If he didn’t own 29% of Enic and was Lewis’s godson, he would have been sacked years ago like the ten managers he has fired. If you are going to hold your employees accountable for their results, quite rightly, when are you going to be held accountable?

It happens to most managers, a few million in the bank account softens the blow.

Someone should say this to Levy himself – Pack you shit and leave.
He is responsible for failures every year, not Poch

Levy likes to play the hard man as the most overpaid chairman in the PL. If you pride yourself as some sort of Gordon Gekko of Wall Street, by all means act decisively, but you stand to be judged by your results. He dismissed Martin Jol in such an underhand manner that there were supporters in the stadium who knew Jol had been dismissed before he was informed by Levy. By all means continue to perpetuate the myth that Levy is the best negotiator in the business, but if you examine the results , he is a complete and abject failure in delivering success to THFC.
