Jose Mourinho has handed a surprise start to third-choice goalkeeper Michel Vorm for Tottenham’s FA Cup tie with Norwich City tonight.
It is the 36-year-old Dutchman’s first appearance for Spurs since he rejoined the club in October in the aftermath of Hugo Lloris’s serious shoulder injury, having previously been released at the end of the 2018-2019 season.

Lloris is again in the treatment room with a groin problem, and Vorm has been preferred to usual deputy Paulo Gazzaniga, whose reputation as a solid understudy has been slightly undone over the last few months.
Still, seeing Vorm’s name on the team-sheet, for a vital last-16 match in a competition which now arguably represents our only realistic opportunity of achieving something this campaign, was a shock to the system.
These Spurs fans on Twitter can’t believe it…
Why are we playing Vorm? 😂

Vorm? Wtf? He’ll probably have a typically Vorm game which involves having not a lot to do other than picking the ball out of the net a couple of times.

Midfielder Oliver Skipp also starts for the first time this season, a decision which received the opposite response from Spurs fans on social media.
Quite what that means for Tanguy Ndombele I’m not sure.
Jan Vertonghen at left-back, Eric Dier at centre-back, Vorm in goal. It is not a team that inspires any confidence.
Not you numbnuts
Did I say it was………..
Its hardly a disgrace……….
I’m confident we will score more than we concede and that we will concede with a defence that has 2 of the slowest players to ever play football vert age dier er. …..
