Three Norwich Players Spurs Should Consider For The Summer [Opinion]

By Joe Fish -

For a team that is bottom of the Premier League and facing likely the drop, tonight’s opponents Norwich City have a fair few players that I’d take at Tottenham.

Perhaps that says more about our squad than it does their’s.

But anyway, Norwich’s relegation could make their top assets easy targets, and here are three who I’d be happy for us to look at in the summer…

Max Aarons

Let’s start with the obvious. As Football London details, Spurs have apparently been tracking Aarons since before he’d played a minute of top-flight football after breaking through during Norwich’s promotion season.

Right-back may be our priority investment area when the transfer window reopens, and Aarons has the potential to develop into an attacking option to match Serge Aurier, without the caveat of all the costly defensive mistakes.

He’s a no brainer for me.

Jamal Lewis

On the other side of the Norwich back-line you’ll often find Jamal Lewis, who caught the eye with a screamer against Leicester City last Friday.

Jose Mourinho has hyped up the impact than Ben Davies could have as the inverted left-back in his defensive setup, but we all know the ceiling that the Welshman has and I’d be keen to explore the market in this position.

Lewis arguably represents a riskier buy than Aarons, despite being a couple of years older at 22, but would thus be a cheaper option than somebody more established for the same role, like Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake.

Teemu Pukki

You thought I was going to say Todd Cantwell, didn’t you? Well, instead, here is a bit of a wildcard for you.

We will resume our neverending hunt for a back-up striker in the summer, and it might be the right time in Pukki’s career for him to move into that role. He’s played 400 games already at 29, across seven different European clubs, but Spurs would be a huge step up for him in terms of stature.

He has got a good Premier League scoring record this season – 11 goals in 27 games – is a natural number nine and wouldn’t expect to play all the time.

He seems like a good fit to me. Plus, transfermarkt.com value the Finnish finisher at £9m. Where are we going to find a better striker for that?

Three players to watch out for tonight then. Watch now, Cantwell will steal the show.

Its no coincidence they play in a team that’s bottom of the PL with the highest goals conceded , Pukki might be worth a go though as a back up.
