“A Departure Is An Option” – Agent Of Spurs Target Talks Up Move

By Joe Fish -

Tottenham could be ready to double up on promsing young centre-backs who can also play right-back, according to reports from France.

Although we already have our own Japhet Tanganga who fits that description, RMC Sport understands that Spurs have entered the race to sign Strasbourg’s Mohamed Simakan as another defensive option.

RMC adds that Everton, AC Milan, Leipzig, Frankfurt, and Dortmund are all fans of the 19-year-old who has broken into Strasbourg’s team this season, playing mostly at right-back despite being a centre-half by trade.

Apparently it is Spurs and Milan who have shown the strongest interest.

Simakan’s agent Badou Sambague told RMC Sport that the teenager could leave Strasbourg this summer even amidst the uncertainty caused to the transfer market by Covid-19.

Sambague said: “In this very difficult context, it is not particularly evident to talk about a transfer but it is obvious that there are opportunities that exist for Mohamed. A departure is an option. First we have a season to finish. Then we will catch up with Marc Keller (club president).”

RMC Sport report that Simakan is valued at around £13m. It would be great if we could find another young gem like Tanganga who is ready to come in and perform straight away in the Premier League.

That would be asking a lot of a rookie from Ligue 1, but if Leipzig and Dortmund are keen – two of the best recruiters of young talent in the game – then I’d bet that Simakan has something about him.
