It seems that Serge Aurier will only leave Tottenham on his terms, well, certainly to a destination of his choice anyway.
Aurier has slipped down the pecking order now that Matt Doherty has arrived and it does appear likely that he will be jettisoned this summer.
However, Daniel Levy wants a certain amount for the 27-year-old which is putting clubs off. The likes of AC Milan have been linked with the Ivory Coast international, as reported by Sky Sports but Levy’s valuation has been a stumbling block.
Football Insider is reporting that Russian outfit Spartak Moscow has stepped in and offered what has been described as a significant fee.
Problem is, Aurier has zero intention of moving to Russia and has rejected the move.
That puts Levy back to square one, he needs to sell Aurieir but the big European clubs interested will not pay what Spurs want and those that will pay is of no interest to the player.
This one will run for a few more weeks yet.

I think Aurier may stay… If possible wage wise.. Maureen likes him.. He has developed already under him in my opinion.. Papers have talked about Moscow and Milan, but has there been any bids? Concrete offers? Do we want to sell? Does he want to go?… I’m not sure the answers to any of those questions… I know papers can’t be trusted… For example when we bought Sissoko, 5 or 6 papers were running with the story that everton were also in for him, bids were accepted and he was in talks with them too, right up to the dying minutes.. According to the goat himself no bids were made and he was never in talks with them.
If you look on Twitter this evening the mob are against burning the witch tonight
I’d not be surprised if he’s looking around at young RB’s. Yes Tanganga can play there but it’s not ideal. Forget Foyth he gives me the jitters. Bit of a puzzle we let KWP go before January really, with all these games that would have suited his level, he might have surprised us.
Interesting points you made in the post above… Do we not need two first team players for every position? For competition, also in case one gets injured.. This means strength in depth….. It’s no good having just one striker, or just one right back. The top teams have cover and options everywhere…. Baldy has managed to pay Bales wages so I have hope we can still get a striker in this window… I guess Tanganga can compete for that right back spot, but Japh is a centre back by trade.
A mob needs a witch and Serge has for some time been served up as the sacrificial hate-object offering to keep the masses at bay…… now that we no longer have Sissoko!
I won’t and can’t in honesty say he has not made a pig’s ear of events here and there, but add the pluses and minuses of many players over the past 18 months and he “in my opinion”, has his minuses highlighted and his pluses downplayed an awful lot mainly so that the narrative can be maintained that HE is the witch and he must be burned.
H your blog has always been balanced and not prone to following the crowd or being led by the nose by dumb lazy hacks, but honestly I do feel that treatment by Spurs fans and some bloggers of Mr. Aurier, is way out of proportion to the level of his mayhem.
Put him next to Dele, put him next to Rose, the guy is not football’s Einstein, but very few out there are. Stats might paint a picture but there are not a lot of stats for a trier in a team that lacks triers, for the committed in a team that lacks commitment or for heart in a team that doesn’t dare do.
As I say he’s far from perfect, but he fights for the shirt and his team and he doesn’t back down. Maybe he will be sold – personally I hope not. But come what may the general tone towards him doesn’t do anyone credit.
Oh, and I don’t give a rat’s arse whether he is blue, black, pink or green.
Whose paying all these wages?!
If you want to see real blood spilled, then the posts published on Twitter during and after matches are where it’s at.
In the All or Nothing series, José Mourinho told Serge to his face – in front of the entire dressing room – that he was an accident waiting to happen.
As far as our high standards go, I’m not sure we’ve bullied anyone. Indeed, I was niggled at a long time ago for be a racist, because I was passing 100% accurate comment on Lennon and Huddlestone being poor. I’d called one or both ‘boy’. So I’m conscious people’s minds can play tricks on them.
In fact, it was on my mind when I chose to renew the domain, because ‘the boy’ is a piece of footballing vernacular I won’t have hijacked on my watch. Sick Parrot Lives Matter.
As far as negative language against Serge, his foul ups have really upset people, and cost us. Dier, Davies, Davinson and even Toby haven’t caused the levels of mayhem Serge has. One of the reason I began delving into the stats side of things was to provide some cold facts into situations where blind invective was winning.
Stats couldn’t save Serge’s repeated CV19 breaches.
Weighing up the pros and cons, I’d move him on and stick with Doherty. Do great sides always included ‘Lucky Bag’ players? I’m unconvinced.
Abuse and praise are earned in this place, without fear or favour.
What I find strange, is that it would appear to be the word ‘outcast’ that has triggered people here. Given Spurs are never going to operate with two first team salaried right backs, he is being cast out. And to the best of my knowledge, it’s not because he’s black.
Also Aurier is a leader of the team press. Only Son with 544 and Moura with 532 applied more pressure on opponents than Aurier who came third with 521. Dele came in 4th with 479 and Harry Kane 5th with 448 pressures… Aurier was also our second highest assister last season.. Also he played the third highest volume of key passes again only pipped by Son and Moura………. The players recognise his efforts hence his popularity… Casual fans should also recognise..
Well said my man.. In fact in the 19/20 season Aurier was spurs most consistent tackler, he also made the highest interceptions. With tackles and interceptions added he leads the way with 141 combined. The next highest was Sissoko with 87.. Both players are highly underated by alot of Spurs fans.
I must say I am surprised Harry at the level of invective that has consistently been levied at Serge Aurier on this blog.
Yes he makes errors, as do Dier, Davies, Davinson and even Toby, but for some reason we overlook or quickly forget theirs, but pin Serge’s up on the wall. We also forget that he has scored some really excellent goals and provided enough assists that aggregated, he’s likely contributed more goals and assists than all the rest of the back line put together AND would likely stack up with the creative output of many of the Midfielders.
He’s clearly a very popular member of the squad and as pointed out below, we have two 1st team level full back on each flank to play what… 60 games?
His aggression gets him into trouble, but he puts in 100% and is totally committed; a comment that doesn’t always fit with a number of other players in the squad. The way he has been described, the choice of words, the contexts, the assumptive and derogatory negatives used to describe him and the relish with which it is done is disgraceful, as is the opportunistic way that blogs on other unrelated topics can somehow find room for a paragraph or sentence to denigrate this guy.
In other environments, the treatment of Serge Aurier would constitute bullying and harassment and the perpetrator would in counselling and/or lucky to keep their job. This blog is and should maintain its high standard – Harry, Levy may deserve this type of campaign – but Serge Aurier does not.
I wouldn’t recommended it, though I know a brother who studied out there and he loved it. Never brought me back a Fabergé egg though🌚
Reggie Yates in extreme Russia was an eye opener to say the least… Aurier definitely doesn’t want to go there.
For sure.. If he goes then we need another right back.. There is only two weeks odd left and we need a striker too…. Unless there is any decent youth coming through? Japh Tanganga can play right back for example I wonder if Maureen has his eye on any more young guns. Tanganga is apparently a centre back, but I would like to see him get some more game time. Whether at centre or right back…. Not sure Toby and Dier can play together. Both too slow. We need to play a centre back with pace to compensate. Verts used to be good at sweeping and covering. Davinson is fast but has mistakes in him similar to Aurier.
Surely Doherty at 28 can’t be expected to play all the games this season? My instinct says keep Aurier as cover. As long as he attacks and doesn’t defend too much we’ll be fine, so perhaps against the lesser teams. We need at least 2 players for every position. Besides the competition will keep Doherty on his toes.
I hate Serge…not because he is not very good, but because he is! when he is on it, focused and playing, he is really good. Then he has a brain fart, or 25mins of not bothering. Which is 10 times worse. If we could put Davies attitude into him we would have a great player! Davies is the other way, you know he always trying to stay focused, but he simply not quite good enough to be first choice at a top club.
LMAO!! Doherty has just arrived and making far less mistakes than Serge. He is a REAL liability at the back – I agree about the “outcast” comment though.
I wouldn’t be looking to offload serge yet. Nope. And if I was danny rose I wouldn’t leave for less money.
Outcast???
Where do you get these views from?
Nowhere have you heard from the player or the club that the player is leaving or wants to leave.
Serge had a little injury earlier during preseason.
As far as I’m concerned…after the way Doherty has started…looking unsure and losing possession so often. I’d put Serge right back in.
Don’t we need 2 players to compete at that position anyway?
I thought that was the whole purpose of the purchase. To insure we have two players in each position. Like the other top teams.
Even as a back-up he will still be prone to brain farts and besides Tanganga is our back-up RB now so it’s best for Serge to find pastures new.
A little o/t but I see that (insert word banned on here) Tony “I hear voices” Rudiger is available from the Blue Scum FC.
See karma does exist it may not be instant but it works eventually
In pure selfish ‘footballing’ terms – I wouldn’t mind if he stayed. Very strong reserve choice.
But I don’t have to balance the books – plus also he’s taking up a ‘non homegrown’ spot in the squad and there’s a lot of pressure there.
As someone only interested in the quality of football/chance of winning something – I’d like to see Foyth, Rose and a few others sold first but I get it. He’s actually worth a proper fee.
With Racism in Russia, I dont blame him at all!
