Spurs May Have Ndombele Replacement Lined Up If The Worst Should Happen

Last weekend I dismissed the suggestion that Tottenham could be tempted to move for sought-after Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

MORE: Could Levy By Tempted By £35m Discount On Coppa Italia Winner?

Foot Mercarto in France reported that the Serbian’s mammoth valuation had dropped from £100m to £65m and brought into the frame; a quite ludicrous notion considering the anticipated state of the market.

But does that rumour become more plausible if Tanguy Ndombele is sold?

According to L’Equipe, relayed by the Daily Mail, Spurs would only consider an offer for Milinkovic-Savic if Ndombele leaves the club this summer.

It seems after weeks of speculation to start lockdown that the Frenchman won’t be going anywhere for another season, with Daniel Levy determined to give the 23-year-old midfielder time to return our investment on him.

But that could well change after the completion of the Premier League season. If after a prolonged break to get himself in shape, Ndombele is still no closer to looking fit or bothered, we may be forced into a decision.

I want Ndombele to be given time to prove himself, but it is good to know that a top-quality replacement is lined up in case the worse should happen.

Sissoko is a trier though. We have needed beef in midfield and he gave us that. He was nearly always fit and available too. He was so dear because he was playing in frances cup winning squad. He had minutes and was effective. But surrounded by greatness.. Sissoko still is dreadful at times but he has a quality warrior mindset he wont stop battling and fighting…… If ndombele tries and puts the effort and desire that sissoko brings then he would become one hell of a player… Its not just his fitness thats in question but his mentality too.. I don’t think he’ll make it to be great, probably best to cash in asap before his stock falls further…Though I hope he can prove me wrong.. Jose has already called him out publicly. Interesting to see how he reacts to everything now when we restart. He should be out with a point to prove.

It takes some players a whole season to fullly settle in a team. The climate, culture, new team etc… But not great or top players, they can play anywhere with anyone at anytime…. It takes about 3 weeks to get fit. Then depending on the person 1 or 2 or 3 or more games to get to match sharpness. Many are sharp from the off…. Ndombele is nearly always injured, but whats unforgiveable is the odd few minutes he did give us he was either amazing or gave us nothing at all… The Burnley game was final straw for me. At hull he was equally shocking unable to run.. Very strange because a club record signing I expect a household name or someone with sheer class. I’d be screaming at ndombele as a teammate when everyones running and hes just jogging. Only toby did out of everyone and I’m not sure if he did…. Not good enough anyway….. Interesting but with no fans then we will be able to hear alot more on the pitch when it all kicks off again.

To quote Hoddle “I am scratching…………….” I can’t see how the boy got past the THFC profiling stage that Poch spoke about.

A discount on N’Dombeles transfer and his poor form would mean the club would be lucky to get £40 million for a player who cost over £60 million pounds, so I don’t see Levy taking that hit, unless N’Dombele is a basket case, he stuck with Sissoko whose form was dreadful for years literally and the investment in him was only £6 million a year.
