I’ve known a lot of Tottenham players to take stick from fans over the years, and in many of those cases it has been easy to understand why.
But for the life of me I cannot comprehend what Lucas Moura has done to deserve the treatment that he gets? Tonight he makes his 100th appearance for us in all competitions, against West Ham, scoring 23 goals in that century despite often being a sub or being deployed out of position.
And yet here were some of the responses to Moura’s milestone tweet…
Nice let’s sell him this summer now

I recognise the Brazilian is inconsistent, and sometimes he can run into blind alleys, but that’s what you get for shopping in the £25m market these days – fee according to Sky Sports. He’s not a world beater, although can be on his day, but he’s been an excellent addition at the price we got him.
The same people that chastise Lucas give Lamela chance after chance. Moura has had more great games in two years than Lamela has had in eight. The replies to the tweet are full of people calling for Ndombele to start. What has he done to deserve such support that Lucas has not?
Do we want Lucas as our undisputed first choice on the right? Probably not.
Does he deserve the flack he gets because of that? Absolutely not.
