Tottenham slammed for pushing player out of the door in January

By Mehdi Gokal -

The recent loan move of Bryan Gil from Tottenham Hotspur to Sevilla has sparked some criticism from Alasdair Gold, Spurs representative for Football London.

Gold has criticized the club’s decision to loan out the young player for the rest of the season. He referred to Gil as a “super little player” and feels that he hasn’t done anything to justify being pushed out the door.

He said on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast:

“This deal irritates me more than probably any of the transfers that happened in the window.

“Because I think Bryan Gil is going to be such a super little player. I really think he is. And I don’t think he’s done anything in the recent weeks to justify him kind of being pushed out the door, either.”

However, the loan move could be seen as the best decision for both Gil and the club.

With the arrival of new signing Danjuma in January, Gil’s playing time was set to be even more limited.

It has been reported that Gil himself was extremely frustrated with the lack of playing time, which was hindering his development.

The young player was desperate to leave in search of more playing time and was even linked with a move to Valencia in the summer, but the move was blocked by manager Conte on deadline day.

Although Gil was able to play a little more in recent weeks due to Tottenham’s injury crisis, with players such as Richarlison, Lucas Moura and Kulusevksi all back fit along with Danjuma, Gil was set to fall down the pecking order once again.

The loan move will allow him to develop his skills and get the playing time he needs to continue to improve as a player.
