9 O’Clocker: Club Less Than Confident About Tanguy

By The Boy -

Contrary to the wildly imaginative thoughts of some, this place only has the best interests of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club in its heart. However, the uncomfortable mood at Spurs is something that needs to be shared, given that the club is still accepting season ticket applications. Customers have a right to know, hence the phrase ‘caveat emptor’. Empty your caveats here.

Over the past few weeks there has been much talk of Tanguy Ndombele to Inter and in some fantastical child’s computer game, Levy uses the money he paid for Tanguy in full (a year ago), in order to swoop for none other than Paulo Dybala.

According to a source close to the club, Tottenham are extremely lacking in confidence that Ndombele can be returned to the market in a manner that makes any sense financially for us. Which makes perfect sense.

The boy’s been in N17 a year and the footballing world and his dog understands that there have been persistent issues. Partly with the player not seeming to grasp the gravitas of Daniel Levy paying a man £200,000 a week, and partly with the same man’s entourage, who have proved to be even less helpful than these sorts of people usually are.

José Mourinho and his coaching staff would love nothing more than Tanguy to come in from the cold, would absolutely love to get the 23-year-old back on track.

According to the same source, the club are at their wits end. There is no guarantee that anyone at the club can reach the player, and the idea that whatever loose change might be forthcoming from selling Ndombele this summer would somehow spring the fêted Dybala is at best fanciful given that lad’s alleged £100million valuation.

A sporting director oversees and manages all this.. We are one of the very few who don’t have one…. Levy is a ruthless businessman, but he is no football sporting director.. They have to know their football and have deep knowledge in youth and development…. Hitchen our chief scout is also suspect.

As said below – I don’t understand it either.
Somebody (maybe Poch.) said the club have a committee for transfers and they have a spreadsheet and one of the criteria is “fit for the club”. It seems they overlooked his abysmal attitude in this instance. Why the hell should this idiot trouser the same as Harry who plays when he isnt fit enough.

Does anybody think PEH is going to stand around in training thinking he has made it now/too good for this shower of shite.
Thing is if we keep Nodumbelly what are the odds of him knuckling down and doing a 180. I think less than 50/50 (much less) so his value goes down again. I can’t recall a player with such an attitude problem – good call on Anelka I can only think of the problems that hithead Adebayor caused us (vice Captain lol).

The club gave Lamela seven seasons to adjust to the Premiership (also a record signing at the time of arrival). Levy has no interest in chopping Tanguy out now. Covid or no Covid, he was never gonna leave this summer no matter how poorly he’s settled, end of story…

The emphasis on the character as well as the ability of a player, should be of paramount importance when considering new signings, especially when you consider the extortionate transfer fees and wages of modern day football. Companies go through potential purchases of others with a fine tooth comb, so why not in football, and in particular Levy, who is clueless about such matters, it’s ridiculous.

Other clubs interested in buying N’dombele will put his bad experience down to a young lad trying to settle in a new country suffers injury, then the manager who signed him gets sacked and the new manager doesn’t rate him. They will have seen his displays from before signing for Spurs and believe they can get him back to his best.Barcelona and Inter Milan two giants have already showed interest. If you look back to ( N’dombele to Tottenham )reports before we signed him still online everyone was saying the same thing this is a statement of intent that Levy was signing Pochs number one target and he was a game changer,Man Utd & Man City were both interested parties and the French team manager was comparing him to Michael Essien. We all say Spurs can’t sign big players because Levy doesn’t pay the going rate, but he gave him a massive contract worth £200,000 per week and it still went pear shaped. I was delighted when we signed him and as disappointed now as everyone else how things have turned out.

As James McKevitt writes, Levy did not do due diligence on a player of undoubted ability but who was someone that no top European club seemed interested in. This is unforgiveable in a CEO, as it can be a very expensive mistake . N’Dombele reminds me of Anelka who was a problem at all of the clubs he played for due to his retinue of greedy advisors. This is another example of Levy’s complete ineptitude in the transfer market and it is high time the club’s transfer policy was put in the hands of professionals. Then Levy, the despicable little runt, can go back to what he does best by expanding Enic’s property empire in Haringey and f****ing over any local business in his way in the pursuit of his empire , including the local council.

The sign was that despite his obvious ability, no top European team seemed interested. As James McKevitt remarks, Levy did not do his due diligence which for a so called astute businessman is unforgiveable. N’Dombele strikes me as another Anelka type player who will continue to be a problem wherever he goes with his retinue of hangers on. The first cut in situations like this is always the cheapest. It is another example of why Levy, the despicable little runt, should have nothing to do with transfer strategy. In fact, he should have nothing to do with football matters and should concentrate on expanding the property empire of Enic in Haringey and f****ing over whoever he can.

The lad clearly has issues, which started virtually from day one, weeks and months before the arrival of Mourinho. It seemed a sharp breeze would have the lad out injured for 3 weeks, and he developed a habit of ruling himself out of games where other players would be bursting to play after a leg amputation.
I think he’s come to England, has been shocked by the physicality of the game, and regretted it.
Enter José stage right, who isn’t afraid to call him out for not putting in the effort in training – or in the pitch for that matter – and the toys are no longer in the perambulator. The kid’s head’s gone. He hates the gaffer. (Refer to Gareth Bale vs Zidane) I’d love to see him come good as much as anybody, but I cant see it happening. Better to cut your losses early than to continue to pay him the same as Kane for sitting on the bench, where his stock will continue to deplete.

Could the club not have discovered all this before N’Dombele was signed. You’re investing almost a hundred million in transfer fee and wages and you don’t do your due diligence. Never even kicked the tires, so much for the ruthless businessman.
