Tottenham Hotspur’s lacklustre start to the Premier League season has prompted former midfielder Jamie Redknapp to issue a warning to manager Ange Postecoglou.
With only four points from their first four games, Spurs currently find themselves in the bottom half of the table, sparking concerns over their early-season form.
In a discussion on Sky Sports, Redknapp emphasised the urgency for Postecoglou to secure positive results, cautioning that the pressure will intensify if performances don’t improve.
He contrasted Tottenham’s current struggles with their more dynamic play from last season, noting the difficulty they are having in replicating the same level of attacking prowess.
During a discussion on Sky Sports, Redknapp stressed the importance of Postecoglou securing victories sooner rather than later. He noted that while Tottenham were lauded last season for their attacking style and fluid football, they are finding it difficult to reproduce that level of performance this time around.
The pundit made it clear that if results don’t improve, the pressure will build quickly on the Australian coach.
As quoted by Daily Mail, Redknapp said:
“This time last year Spurs were fantastic to watch. We were all waxing lyrical about the manager and the free flowing football.
“Right now it’s not free flowing. If you play well and don’t start winning then you get days like today where the quality drops.
“They need to pick up some results quickly. It’s a fact at this club if you’re not winning games you don’t get long and he needs to start winning some games.”
Postecoglou’s first season in charge was widely regarded as a success, with Spurs finishing fifth, just two points shy of Champions League qualification.
However, with significant backing in the summer transfer window, bringing in players like Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert, and Lucas Bergvall, expectations were high that Tottenham would push for even more this season.
Despite the new arrivals, Spurs have struggled to find their rhythm in the early stages of the campaign, and they currently sit 13th in the Premier League standings.
With a talented squad and high expectations, the next few weeks will be critical for Postecoglou to steer Tottenham back into form and ensure they start competing at the top end of the league once again.
