Yeah, But Did Tottenham Have A Good Window?

By The Boy -

By its close, the transfer window saw a tonne of business get done and Tottenham followed the trend of most Premier League sides, by offloading plenty of players in order to trim the fat from their squad. An interesting spot was that Spurs were one of 3 sides that simply released a fair number of players. While Arsenal were making their mascot redundant, we joined Manchester United, Everton and Manchester United and our new best friends Manchester United in taking a knife to the names in the ‘Never Gonna Make It‘ file.

Exiting Hotspur Way were Jan Vertonghen (Released) Details Michel Vorm (Released) Details Tariq Hinds (Released) Details Rayan Clarke (Released) Details Jonathan Dinzeyi (Released) Details Phoenix Patterson (Released) Details Maxwell Statham (Released) Details Maximus Tainio (Released) Details, no doubt WendyCOYS will be sporting a black armband today.

Across the English top flight, loan deals were the order of the day, and Spurs managed to move on to pastures new, the following players an Details
TJ Eyoma (Lincoln City) Loan Details Kyle Walker-Peters (Southampton) Details Armando Shashoua (Atletico Baleares) Details Luke Amos (QPR) Details Oliver Skipp (Norwich) Loan Details Jack Roles (Burton) Loan Details
Shilow Tracey (Shrewsbury Town) Loan Details Juan Foyth (Villarreal) Loan Details Ryan Sessegnon (Hoffenheim) Loan Details.

Sessy to the Bundesliga is a peculiar one altogether. We spent forever looking to bring the boy in, and then when we eventually paid what was in my opinion, far too much money for him, neither Pochettino nor Mourinho wanted much to do with him.

Danny Rose is an absentee from both lists, and I’m curious what exactly it will take for fans to realize what a truly toxic character he became. We can guess that Milan, nor anyone else, called.

Looking at the stellar signings Tottenham made, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Southampton) Details Joe Hart (Burnley) Free Details Matt Doherty (Wolves) Details Sergio Reguilon (Real Madrid) Details Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) Loan Details Carlos Vinicius (Benfica) Loan (Details) my only question is, what took Levy so long to back a manager?

Sydney Aus, didn’t make it far before falling into the Bondi lifestyle. Anything was better than the Tron. We (Aussie Wife) loved Wellington when we visited only bested by Dunedin.

In answer to your question HH
Like I said a few weeks ago, when you can put your medal on the table & they overflow all the doubts Levy had in the past disappear.

it’s a fair point, Jonathan!

Dier’s argument in an interview i heard on the radio is if they’re looking so closely at things then why is there no comment on the fact he was pushed in the back off the ball – which causes him to put his hands out to balance.
It’s all a shambles.

La Liga had this rule last season and had like 56 pens given for handball.
EPL didn’t and was only 19 pens for handball.
Rule makers are ment if they see that and think to move in this direction.

BUT there is nothing we can do now I suppose. So I will use the next three weeks of boring internationals (I am a New Zealander) to excite myself over the possibility of Bale joining us and watching his 90th minute winner against west ham again and again

Spot on. Sanchez I feel plays better with Toby alongside and that to me is our best pairing, Dier is ok stroking the ball sideways and back to LLoris but his forward passing is poor compared to Toby. Dier and Sanchez together will cost us so many points in the EPL this season. Look at how Man Utd scored their first goal within 20 secs. Hopefully we can remain close to the top four until January and then grab a quality CB.

I’ll give you two reasons, Dier and Sanchez. We’ve conceded 5 goals in the EPL so far this season. Aside from the utterly absurd penalty awarded against Doherty, versus Southampton, Dier and Sanchez have been responsible for the other 4. We actually have quality all over the pitch now, with the exception of CB. Two great new FB’s, a top DM, a resurgent Ndombele and Lo Celso in CM and the best array of attacking options in the whole EPL. However we have two mediocre CB’s, with even our best CB (still Toby), now in decline. Unfortunately the failure to buy Skriniar, will I believe come back to haunt us. I will happily take top 4 and a cup (at long last!), but we won’t win the EPL with those CB’s.

“My only question is, what took Levy so long to back a manager?” One can but speculate H, but the cynic in me would suggest that Poch was the perfect patsy for ENIC and an unexpected managerial bonus for them, who made THFC both competitive and financially viable, whilst operating on a shoe string budget. He never ‘rocked the boat’ because he was beholden to Levy for his job and greatly increased managerial status and pay bracket. He had never won anything and he was 10 years Levy’s junior, so he was never going to challenge Levy. Thus Levy was able to prioritise the stadium and Poch, increasingly unwillingly, played along with the ‘project’ and the ‘no investment’ scenario, until ultimately it killed him.

Mourinho is a wholly different character. A world class manager, with a glittering CV, even though recently a little tarnished and marked with some controversy. Nevertheless, he’s a proven winner and a stellar name. He’s box office. The ideal front man to manage THFC into the era of international sponsorship deals, stadium naming rights, Amazon documentaries, etc. Therefore, having totally run down the squad, Levy was left with no choice but to back him, as it’s critical for the whole ENIC project that the club returns to Champions League football. To this end, Levy has operated extremely shrewdly in this window and has ‘backed the damned manager’ to the point where Mournho is happy and we now have a genuine chance of winning trophies as well as returning to the top four. Bravo!

Heard the window is not “fully shut” we can still trade with lower leagues…so you may see the kid from Swansea.

As I also follow Leeds Clarke wasn’t a good punt, when we loaned him back he couldn’t even get on the bench! We didn’t need either of them but we desperately needed a striker, not bringing one in instead of this pair of gambles cost us top 4 last season.

Sessy will be worth double that within 2 years. Clark was a good punt. Killing it in PL2. He’s still very young. Both are

I concur with Arry Redknapp’s sentiments that there is no reason why Spurs can’t win the PL title this season. Got to dash as men in white suits have just knocked on my door!!

Yes by comparison to recent windows this was something special. We now have more competition for places which is essential and at last some game changers off the bench.
It looks like the players have bought into Jose’s plans and now they just need to appreciate that there will be rotation to protect them from burnout.

Hopefully Sunday’s result was not a one off,but the start of something magical. And perhaps we can get Rodon in before the 16th.October.

If Rodon or another CB from the EFL happens it’ll be the Magnificent Seven 2: This Time They’re Actually Magnificent.

By Levy’s standards some excellent shrewd transfer business has been accomplished!

Yes Levy was ripped off over Sessy without a doubt. Should’ve spent the money wasted on him and Clarke on a decent 2nd striker, no brainer.
A much better transfer window than I expected thanks to Mou’s “persuasive” powers. We can already see the lift in morale it has given to players. I hope Levy ties him down to a much longer contract and also continues to listen to his words of wisdom and takes more of a back seat in all things football.

No money at the old place to back the manager with proper quality (fee and wages) plus we’ve never had a quality winning manager to be backed with the stuff anyway. Jose is the first manager (out of many) that levy trusts. The moment the wheels were set in motion to build the stadium you knew we wouldn’t be spending much. Stadium built so everyting bless now🌚 oh and 25 years to find £850mil ain’t a problem. 5 years troy parrot £400mil🌚
