Would Poch Stop Levy Cashing In On £50M Rated Star?

By The Boy -

‘Curious’ is a word being used with alarming frequency in respect of Spurs these days. This particular Spurs transfer rumour is not just curious but potentially intriguing.

The Star (suspend your disbelief) say that Manchester United are interested in not just Lucas Moura, but Eric Dier in the January window.

Despite the source, this actually makes sense all round.

Pochettino is drifting and the squad has looked confused since the beginning of the year, let alone the beginning of the season.

Anyone who wants to argue the case that Spurs’ first XI is unshakeably committed to the cause and can’t be bought at any price – has to be talking about Harry Kane only.

Eric Dier is not liked by fans, and has become a perennial sick note.

If Lucas Moura – who Poch clearly lacks faith in – could be swapped for £50million, would the gaffer really block such a deal?

HH Says: Premier League football in the 21st century is an unforgiving mistress. Transfer rumours like this are all too sadly coming our way, in legion.

Same with Maddison,Utd.allegedly prepared to pay 80M for him.Levy would have creamed himself in that situation.Penny wise pound foolish again.

McGinn is better than all our midfielders and he could av been got for about 30 million. That price will rocket now. Levy’s too busy picking out menu headings. Prick.

I think the players have let him down a little, and he has let himself down, but 99% of it is the board. So many times a small investment (well, a big investment on 1 player, ala Liverpool) would have made the world of difference, now that ship has sailed and its a full rebuild required. Poch knows he will never get that. Last nights loss is just another item of proof Poch doesn’t want to be here.

Our run of abysmal results starting at the beginning of the year coincided with one monster leaving… dembele was our best player, breaking up the oppositions play and committing multiple defender with his dribbles. The man was a beast

A few random thoughts:

Harry Winks is not the answer as a holding midfielder. The central defense is once again lacking the protection that Toby complained was missing when he first came to Spurs. Victor was the answer then but he is now shot and a replacement is needed. Winks would be better playing in place of Eriksen.

Four years ago Dier and Alli looked as if they would be key midfield cogs for years to come but both are now busts. Add to this the departure of Dembele and it is clear where the lack of spending hurt most. Ndombele will eventually come good but the remainder of the midfielders are just not good enough on a consistent basis.

Danny Rose flatters to deceive. There is no doubting his commitment but the crossing and shooting are really poor. The darting runs may look good but if they don’t result in anything positive they are merely a nuisance to the opposition.

When moving the ball up through the middle (as opposed to following the dreaded U formation) the passing is generally abysmal. This was demonstrated once again on Saturday with sloppy short passes and overly ambitious long balls. This might be overcome by some real on the field
leadership but there is none.

Something is clearly very wrong with the overall atmosphere at the club and there can be little doubt that with multiple contracts being allowed to lapse and other senior players being offered for transfer morale must be very low. With United looking ever more lost it is unlikely that Ole will last into November and Poch will be on his way oop North. A change of blood would not be so awful if it weren’t for the fact that Levy will do little to provide the influx of fresh talent that will obviously be needed when Jan/Toby/Eriksen leave.

What a great time it is to celebrate the wonderful new stadium. The most luxurious apartment in the world filled with ikea furniture.

I don’t want him to go and feel his players have let him down as much as Levy and the board. I don’t know why he would want to stay. I think heartbroken and betrayed might sum up the way he feels right now. On the flip side the quickness of the success he has had here has probably been the downfall of the entire project. I don’t think they expected it to come this fast when he took over. Will he see it out and stay or will he opt to leave and give up on the whole thing?

i don’t think its legs I think its lack of desire. we had a lead and instead of burying our opponent we tend to slow down lose interest and allow them back into the match. If we hadn’t have been so clinical against Palace and buried shots early I think we would have had a repeat performance against them as well. We looked uninterested in the second half of Palace as well and slowed the tempo way down.

Honestly I think Gilfi would have been better to keep than Erikson myself. I don’t think im amongst the majority on that but he is a hard worker with quality and not afraid to put in a tackle unlike Erikson.

What a mess to bring into this supposed new era with the bowl of no soul. Could they not see that sorting the squad out was priority to facilities?
Or did they just not give a shit?

I’ll stick with the latter for an answer.

Mass exodus coming our way… Including Poch. I personally think we would look better with Moura’, Kane and Son playing. Lamela is good too. Drop CE and Alli. If I am honest, it’s less about talent now for me… It’s attitude.

So….Next 3 games in the league are Southampton (H), Brighton (A), Watford Home (H)…is it wrong to say anything less than 9 points and Poch job is under threat? I don’t know who we replace him with, and I don’t want him to go, but we are currently in relegation form. since January, if that had been a season we would probably be bottom half.

I tend to agree on Dier, I still rate him. Not sure where his future lies in terms of position. Do many teams play with a player like that now in midfield?

As a defender he’s a ball player, in midfield his movement and passing possibly a bit limited for our brand of football?

We have a considerable problem with the drop in form of certain players. Dier, Dele, Victor and Erikssen come most prominently to mind. In Christian’s case that drop in form may be temporary, but in the case of the other three I am inclined to believe it is somewhere between chronic and terminal.

Dier has regressed considerably over the past couple of seasons and the same with Dele. To what degree injuries have played a part is debatable, but the results are now obvious for all to see. Victor was a savage beast his first season in midfield but, due to chronic injury, now sadly resembles a toothless hound.

Lucas is a class act, who can conjure a goal out of nothing and should not be sold, but any of the other three could be sold to Utd or whoever. Dembele has been a huge loss, in my opinion. Ndombele, Lo Celso, and A. N. Other (e.g. Fernandes) could completely revitalise our midfield, in conjunction with current incumbents like Sissoko and Winks, but the first two will take time to adjust to the EPL, as will a new signing like Fernandes.

All of which leaves our midfield a bit in a state of flux and transition. If you then add in the uncertainty contractually to our key central defenders, allied to the realisation that Foyth and Sanchez are not at the same level as Toby and Jan, then there are a multitude of problems to be resolved just to maintain our status quo in the top four.

So, is what your saying, when Poch takes over Yannited he’ll be looking to poach Dier and Moura ? I think he’ll give that a swerve and plumb for Eriksen possibly.

Lamela and Eriksen are the last surviving Bale/Baldini signings. Where are the others now? Capoue, Chadli, Chiches? What have any of these players done since leaving Spurs?

None of them were of the quality required and none of them suited the way we played or the Premiership (apart from Capoue who remains useful to Watford).

Eriksen has always been 50% quality and 50% lame-arse. Lamela has some quality technique etc but has never put the whole thing together.

I’ve never been a massive fan of Eriksen anyway, too meek and mild, lacking in aggression but he’s good when he can be arsed.

Sell him in Jan ffs…

Neither Dier or Moura would be huge losses but I can’t see Moura leaving after having just signed a new 5 year deal.

However, Dier might end up dropping back into defence long term. After signing Tanguy, Celso and Winks’ first team spot either Dier goes and rebuilds his career or he replaces one of the Belgians long term in defence.

The other thing that disturbed me about the Leicester game was about ten minutes into the second half , on 5 Live the commentator said Spurs look leggy, they’re tiring. Poch in his presser said they got back to England after CL game at 3am. We’re only six or seven games in , these are super fit young men. I never hear City or Liverpool being described as leggy, what is going on?

I heard Jermaine Jenas say about three weeks ago that Poch wanted shot of Wanyama, Dier, and Lamela. Agree on Wanyama, and Dier, no good if you’re never fit, surprised about Lamela, thought he was one of Poch’s pets, but he’s injury prone too.

I wouldn’t sell anyone to Utd, Moura is the sort of squad player we should be keeping.

Unpopular opinion alert! …

Eric Dier was actually a main stay in our team when we were playing well.

Its a shame he’s not liked. When we have 2 full backs playing he drops in with Toby and Jan which gives us a good formation.

Him and N’dembele might be a good pairing?

For all his improvements I cant wait till we sack off Sissoko. He is an utter fraud of a footballer.

Will we ever have a fully fit squad again?
