Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.
The 22-year-old Mexican has been in fine form for the Dutch outfit this season and he scored 28 goals across all competitions.
The England international is reportedly a target for Bayern Munich and it remains to be seen whether the German outfit can agree on a fee with Tottenham.
The player is in the final year of his contract at the London club and he has not signed an extension with them yet. He could look to move on this summer and join a big club capable of winning major trophies.
He has not been able to win trophies with Tottenham throughout his club career and he will look to make the most of his peak years now.
Gimenez could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition but the Feyenoord director Dennis Te Kloese has now made it clear that he does not wish to sell the Mexican this summer. Te Kloese added that it would be best for the 22-year-old striker to continue at Feyenoord and gain first-team experience with them.
He said to ESPN: “We have a long-term contract with him. I also honestly think, and I have known him for a long time, that it is best for him, from me, to gain experience here and play in the Champions League.
“In an ideal situation, Gimenez is just a Feyenoord player. We must not lose sight of reality. Our players have positioned themselves fantastically in the past year.
“But we are working on something very special in the sporting field. With the Johan Cruijff Scale, playing for prizes and the Champions League. Players realise that they can also take steps here.”
The talented young striker could be tempted to join a big club like Tottenham if there is a concrete proposal on the table and it remains to be seen whether the north London giants decide to try their luck with an offer in the coming weeks.
