“We might have a decision to make” Spurs given clue about how much young target will cost them

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is one of the teams chasing Wigan’s Kyle Joseph as he continues to do well at the League One side.

The attacker has been on the radar of the Lilywhites even before they signed Alfie Devine from The Latics in the summer.

They reportedly had a bid rejected for him at that time, but remain interested in his signature.

Wigan has been in administration, and he has been an important part of their team in this campaign.

With a few days left before this transfer window closes, one of their administrators, Paul Stanley, is confident that the attacker will remain with them for the rest of this season.

He, however, opened the door for him to leave them soon if a significant bid comes along.

Wigan Today says they rejected a £500,000 offer from Barnsley for his signature this month.

Stanley then tells them that a bid of £1m might make them consider losing him before the transfer window shuts, opening the door for Tottenham to swoop.

“We’re not planning on losing Kyle, and we’re certainly not encouraging any more bids for him,” he told Wigan Today.

“We’re getting towards the end of the window now so, unless somebody came in with a stupid offer, we wouldn’t even be looking at it. – and we haven’t looked at it.

“The only offer we’ve had is from Barnsley last week – which is in the public domain – and that was rejected verbally last week, and rejected formally by email on Monday.

“No-one else has come in, and we don’t want anyone else to come in.

“I think the lad himself is level-headed, he’s enjoying his football, he’s playing regularly in the first team.

“Obviously we also have a duty to the creditors, and if someone came in with a million quid up front we might have a decision to make.

“But at the same time I don’t want to do anything to jeopardise the sale of the club, I don’t want the club to get relegated, and you want to keep hold of your best players.

“So as far as that goes we’re not encouraging any offers and we don’t want any more offers.”
