“We can improve” – Antonio Conte talks not winning a trophy this season for Spurs

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur was heading into their 5th Round FA Cup match against Middlesbrough FC in good form, coming off a 4-0 win against Leeds United this past weekend. However, Spurs put forth a disappointing result as they crashed out in extra time after a goal from Josh Coburn.

With Tottenham out of the FA Cup, the north London club will not win any silverware. During manager Antonio Conte’s news conference with the media, the Italian tactician was asked how difficult it is for him to sit in early March, knowing his squad won’t win a trophy.

“But we have to continue to work and to know that there is the opportunity to work and to know that there is the rest of the season,” Conte said, per Football.London.

“There are three months and a half to work, to work very hard and get the best result and for the team to see at the end of the season which is our position in the table. There is only this way, and for sure we have to continue to work and to improve in many aspects. We can improve.”

The media then followed it up by asking how challenging it is for Conte, how is coming off winning Serie A last season with Inter Milan, knowing he won’t win any silverware this season.

“But in this moment, I’m the last person; I don’t think about myself. When I speak with my players and in my team and say that we have to think about ‘us,’ not ‘me,'” Conte said.

“For me, no problem, and for me, there is the desire, the will, the patience to try to continue to work very hard to improve, to make this team more stable than the past, because I think this is the key that can change the situation.”

Conte will need to turn this award heading into next season should the club back him financially and if he decides to remain as the manager for next season to get Spurs close to any silverware.

Conte has been convinced to stay til summer assuming the Formaldehyde or the Nitrous Oxide don’t take control..he is turning into the Italian Dennis Hopper game after game ..but don’t worry Clippedy Clop The Chubby Argentine on the White Stallion is closer and closer..Bale Bale 🤮🤮.
We were rubbish last night Winks and PEH , who looks more and more like his next job is all sorted, were non existent. ..And the squad is so thing.

If you hire the best chippy in the world to build you a built in wardrobe, but he hasn’t got the tools to do it, the final result will be a disaster and it won’t be as good as you thought it was going to be.
Daniel Levy hired Antonio Conte to do a job at Spurs, but he’s not supplying the tools or the players he wants to do the job, so the blame lies in Daniel Levy’s hands, just as it has with every other manager we’ve had. It’s that simple.
Anyone backing Daniel Levy, Joe Lewis and ENIC are a massive part of the problem we have at this club.

Levy, Lewis and ENIC OUT

It was a long shot to win it Tony but we wouldnt have expected to go out to an average Boro side.
I hope you stay and I can watch your face light up as Dyabala, Kessie & Botman stroll through the doors in the summer but I keep having this nagging doubt…………….

I took a look at that bench last night and it looks worse than under Poch and it was the lack of squad depth that did for him.

He’s just words now… one minute he wants out. Next he thinks we can improve. His plan B last night was to bring on Emerson.

Do yourself a favour Antonio get out now whilst you still have some integrity and reputation to hold on to.

It is very questionable that if you don’t have the right personnel, whether you should play a rigid formation such as 3-5-2. We certainly do not have the wingbacks who are good enough and we are playing with two defensive midfield players of debatable quality who offer little going forward. Hjojberg has certainly gone off the boil and Winks was terrible last night. I keep saying that we have no control in midfield with zero creativity and many other contributors have correctly identified the fact that we never replaced Eriksen and Dembele. Conte should have brought Bergwijn on earlier but it was a thoroughly disappointing performance although hardly surprising.

Interesting that the old format would have seen us get a home replay and most likely progress – we used to sleepwalk ties like this in the past and get away with it to some degree.

No place to hide now. Zero urgency from the boys last night after the first 25 minutes.
