Watch Steven Bergwijn Score An Absolute Belter And Make An Assist For The Netherlands

By The Boy -

A great goal from one of Tottenham’s somewhat forgotten men last night as the Netherlands beat Norway by 2 goals to nil. The pass to Steven was horribly under-hit, but the 24-year-old unleashed a magnificent and memorable strike.

Bergwijn also made the assist for Barcelona’s Memphis Depay, and this victory secured the men in Orange the top spot in their World Cup Qualifying Group, G.

Certainly a convincing performance, but Bergwijn is likely to still face an uphill task to crack Antonio Conte’s starting XI.

One person’s ‘no belief in themselves’ is another person’s ‘ team first play the percentages selflessness’. You’re right about the pass though, he made it a tad harder than it needed to be.

Regarding the discussion of what the common factor is between Kane, Lo Celso & Burg Wine’s success in internationals but not so much for The Mighty Spuds; I proffer – non Premier League quality football.

Just a thought.

Hopefully that’ll be us after a couple of transfer windows with Conte at the helm, then we’ll see…

Great strike by Bergwjin. He is capable of these kinds of strikes. Where he lets himself down is when composure is required in front of goal. if the roles were reversed for the 2nd there’s no way Depay squares to Bergwjin. A goal and an assist on Sunday would be most welcome all the same

Absolutely what I was about to post… no top attacking player in form would think twice about squaring it there… and not to go hard on the lad, but he very nearly put too much on the ball through as well!

All playing in successful, well organised teams surrounded by good players.

For the second goal you can clearly see Bergwijn has no belief in himself, who squares a ball when looking straight at the keeper in a 1-on-1. Depay did well to get it in.

So now we have Kane, Lo Celso and Bergwijn performing for the countries but not their clubs? Bunch of wage thieves.
