Video – “I’m very proud to be joining such a big club” Matt Doherty speaks for the first time as a Tottenham player

Tottenham new signing Matt Doherty has given his very first interview as a Spurs player and as was to be expected, he is very effusive about his new team.

Spurs signed the Irish international from Wolves and considering he is one of the best performing full-backs in the Premier league landing him for less than £15 million is an absolute bargain.

Doherty joins Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Joe Hart as new acquisitions for the club this summer and it is expected that there will be more incomings before the window is finally shut.

This video comes via the official Spurs Youtube channel. Enjoy.

I wouldn’t turn a freebie down either. But regardless of if I pay for a ticket or not, I don’t preach to people that they can’t be real fans because I disagree with them like you do.

We are all entitled to agree or disagree and love the club equally. I have no idea about people’s personal feelings about stuff. However, question my fondness for Spurs and you can go and get f**ked,, whoever you are…

I’m faithful to the club, not the manager, not the owners and not the chairman. If a player or a manager does good stuff then they get that faith too. Otherwise it’s only the club…

Should I tell my guy I don’t want the ticket then go buy one? Is that what you’d do? Every time I go there I spend money. Its the spicy wings cheesy chips and local brew. I don’t know anyone who turns down free. East stand be honest. Would you turn a ticket down? By the way I get my ticket from a member of the British empire. Would be rude of me to refuse it🌚 another empire man from the manor Oswald boateng. Seville row. Not at all a football man. ask me if I’ve got a boateng “whistle. Then don’t ask me if it still fits🌚

I can think of lots of reasons not to blow the smoke. The style for football for a start.

Like I’ve said, he comes with this ‘born winner’ tag so I fully expect him to deliver, whatever the methods are. I have no other view on it. He has nothing else to offer for me other than the cold hard winning aspect.

Any fan wants to see their club win stuff, to not would be idiotic no matter who the manager is….

Jose is obviously aware people think the football wont be very pleasing on the eye so he’ll address it. He won’t want Franks Chelsea out styling us. It will get prettier and prettier. He’s not raincoat man. He won’t mind our players giving it a bit a flash in not so risky areas. As I’ve said before ‘once the backs locked off” our attackers gonna be attacking hard. I’m expecting a little “suttn suttn” this coming season, but following season is when we’ll start to shine bright bright bright.

Was just trying to guide/steer you man. Everythings in place. 🌚 with loyalty you can’t go wrong. Even if Jose don’t succeed (he will) no one can cuss me for standing by my club, believing in my club. (I always will and really realy do) If Jose succeededs some will look not very clever and not very strong. Better late than never.🌚 I can’t see any reason not to blow smoke up his bottom. “Raise your hopes” man

I have to get in with what’s happening, as you keep telling everyone. That’s what I’m doing, I want us to win games just like we did under Poch. Hopefully the football won’t be as bad as I fear, but I’m not getting my hopes up. Until I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Like all things in life, you see for yourself, not what somebody else had told you to think.

Evidence. This is what we need now. Enough blowing smoke up his bottom for now…

We’ll never know how much as we never had Twitter back then… 😂

They bought Bergkamp to copy signing a big name European striker like we had done just before with Klinsmann. There was nothing ‘Arsenal’ whatsoever about Bergkamp. The way he played, conducted himself etc, Hoddle was his hero…

He sounds, dare I say it… intelligent. More so than the current-soon-to-be-previous incumbent of the role.

I think that’s the point,he’s done well as the club has progressed and never hinted about a move.Jose obviously rated him and chanced his arm.Great addition.Hopefully Aurier will realise the jig is up and push for a way out.

GOONER ALERT!! 😂

Proof that 99% of footballers have zero club loyalty whatsoever.

Before someone jumps on me for being ‘negative’ about a Gooner playing for us, I happen to think he’s a good signing. Glad I’ve cleared that up…

It makes such a difference when a new signing express such enthusiasm and excitement to be joining the club, as the three new lads have shown in their interviews, it’s encouraging.

He was born in Swords there is a lovely pub there spent a lunchtime drinking that black beer with a creamy head on a work trip.
p.s. 100% pleased he has signed.

He has been with them a long time through thick and thin and I’m guessing the manager respected his wish for a change when Spurs came knocking. Maybe they decided not to play hard ball given all he had for the club?

I think Spurs were the “goldilocks” club….probably not many big clubs asking for him and he was unlikely to ever go down to a lesser club…..he wanted to come to us so asked to leave..would’ve expected maybe early 20’s but maybe they wanted it done quick AND, for once maybe Levy paid the full amount to get the deal..

There’s something about this deal that doesn’t add up. I’m glad he’s a Spurs player but considering how effective he has been for Wolves the transfer fee seems strange. Also the lack of interest from other clubs is hard to understand.

Maybe he didn’t want to go anywhere else and maybe the deal was done before other clubs were alerted.
