Video Reaction – “We could have signed two top-class wingers for that money” ENIC’s Transfer Strategy Under Fire By Some

By The Boy -

Steven Bergjiwn struggled against Burnley this week, and it prompted not just negativity toward the player himself, but Tottenham’s overall strategy itself. Buying proven players that are ready to go from day one appears to be a strategy that ENIC is extremely hesitant to pursue – unless the price is right.

One fan commenting on a video highlighting how many times Bergwijn lost possession summed up the mood by pointing out Spurs had blown about £100million on Jack Clarke, Bryan Gill, and Bergwijn – a sum that could have perhaps been spent on fewer, superior players.

He’ll join the rest of the deadwood that we can’t shift because of their wages and the fact nobody else wants them.

If only we had a master negotiator at the top to sort these problems out……oh wait a minute.Levy is such an embarrasement and yet after all this time he doesn’t get it.

When have we ever, under ENIC got a player in who’s hit the ground running ? It’s always a season plus before we see any benefit even then the majority fails.

Wouldn’t get in the squad of a top 6 side. Maureen didn’t want him and it’s clear why. He’s worse than Moura, which says it all.

Held back and destroyed the club’s home. Unforgivable. All while telling the idiots it would allow us to compete.

There’s a player in there, but I think he’s hampered by poor decision making, and too much hit and hope.

The biggest piece of deadwood we have is Levy. If Lewis gave a toss about THFC he would have fired him for years of poor decisions and failure that have set the club back years. He doesn’t though. ENIC out.

Point is he’s a flop which way you look at it, another Levy flop to add to the long list.

That is EXACTLY our problem. It’s not a coincidence that no other clubs choose to follow this risky policy. With a few tiny exceptions Levy has blown millions following this dumb tactic. On the one occasion we got a proven player in VdV it proved just how successful it was.
We’re still doing it with Sarr, You’d think that Levy would have learnt by now, he is costing the club not only millions wasted on new deadwood like Bergwijn, Sessegnon and Clarke, but it’s also costing us success. If Levy had bought less but established quality players I bet you any money we’d of won multiple trophies under Poch and Mourinho.

I’ve not been that impressed by Bergwijn overall and have never seen anything from Jack Clarke that would explain why we bought him. However, I think it’s stretching things a lot to say that video shows him losing possession fifteen times. Does stretching to receive the ball, whether with head or foot, and not managing to get hold of and keep it, really count as losing possession. In a lot of those examples, he was barely in possession, if at all. It’s a bit like describing a hacked clearance from the box that goes to one of the other side as a poor pass.

I like Bergwjin. He is quick, skilful and an eye for goal. Has been unlucky with injuries. My doubt about him is that he is very one footed. For this reason; the best defenders, in the biggest games, will usually get the better of him in my opinion.

Despite that I think there will be more to come from him. He isn’t fit enough or sharp enough to be starting at the moment. I expect to see him off the bench in the last 20 minutes of our upcoming games. Maybe his luck will change and he will start to bag a few goals against tired legs. One tomorrow would do nicely.

Buy……..rite.

Since our stadium was removed for an NFL stadium it’s worth commenting on another “insane” ending(self proclaimed by NFL) last night in fixed and scripted Packers v Cardinals. I made a bit on the Packers cos they were always winning despite having half their team out vs undefeated Arizona. Last play, multiple pro bowler AJ Green didn’t even turn around to catch the ball in the end zone to allow the game winning interception. Even the commentator said “I can’t explain what’s going through his head there”
Total joke. Plus earlier in the drive a high snap which they conveniently left off the highlights.

It’s getting to the point where I can’t fathom how people can’t see it. It’s that obvious now.

Bergwjin is 24 and has been with us nearly 2 years. He’s had his moments and with better finishing could have had a few more goals. He’s missed some big chances (Anfield away!) and he hasn’t done enough for me. He hasn’t improved since joining us and has even regressed him but of course he’ll hang around the squad for a while yet because Levy will be loath to take a hit on him.

We have had so many signings that just don’t cut it, Levy’s record when it comes to the quality of player we sign is so poor he should have the purse strings taken away from him. The amount of money he'[s wasted trying to save money is ridiculous. If we had just spent a bit more to buy the quality in the first place, it would have saved him money. #LevyOUT !!!!

He has been a disappointment no doubt, he is another who picks up injuries that stops him progressing.
