England beat Iceland by 4 clear goals last night and our man Harry Kane played a useful part, despite not featuring on the score sheet. Echoes of the manner in which he has evolved since having been coached by the Master, Mourinho.
Harry Kane’s shot assists
Warning shots from this game were fired in the direction of Dele Alli as Rice (20′ minutes), Mount (24′ minutes), Foden (80′ minutes, 84′ minutes) all scored; players that have all played a part in usurping the Spurs boy’s place in Gareth Southgate’s side, and it is looking like dropping Dele was such the right thing to do …is there a way back?
I would have thought that Grealish was more in the picture as far as Dele is concerned, and his place looks more assured with each performance. If anything Grealish has become a better player since being taken on as an international.
Great opportunity for Dele to step up and prove he’s the player Spurs fans think he is. My take is that, somewhere along the line, his fire and niggliness was dimmed. Hopefully he’ll get it back and start performing to the standard we know he can.
Meanwhile, Kane is also making his presence known in midfield as a number ten.
