The Marcus Edwards’ file used to be a rather thin one, containing a just a dozen minutes or so in a league cup game that Spurs lost, plus some unflattering quotes from the Norwich City boss about an inability to attend training sessions on time.
Fast forward to the present and Edwards is ‘suddenly’ 22, with over 60 games under his belt for Primeira League side Vitoria Guimaraes. Given his on pitch actions, there is a case to be made that the Londoner might be maturing. In his last 11 games, Edwards has contributed 8 shot assists and one actual assist.
Tottenham still maintain more than a fleeting interest in Marcus, thanks to a clause that could allow Daniel Levy to bring the boy back for as little as £6.8million.
His dad said to me he shouldn’t have gone to Norwich coz of his back
The Norwich coach said timekeeping was the problem ,maybe that’s linked to his back problem,he couldn’t get out of bed in time.lol
He needed to grow up and stop relying only on his talent to justify a place in the team. There have been several players that didn’t get it together before it was too late, John Bostock, Adel Tarrabt etc. Edwards is still young enough to rise in his career with the hard work he’s now showing.
For 6.8 million I would bring him back in January. He is as good as Lo Celso and has the ability to open defences and get past players. We need that creative spark to do the unexpected in an offensive position.
He did ok in Holland and at Norwich he had a back problem
There’s my boy right there.
£7m is peanuts. Just from a business point of view it would make sense resigning him. Young players need game time just so they understand how professional footballers go about their job. Growing up in a protected inter aged environment isn’t big time football and can foster an arrogance that can harm a player in the long run. No point being a big time Charlie in the England U/17s if you are playing League One as a 28 year old. Just a shame he couldn’t have shown that maturity at Norwich or Excelsior like some of those Chelsea youngsters who have stepped in to the EPL with aplomb.
