Video Evidence: Increasing Flashes Of Ball Rolling Brilliance From One Spurs Player Under Mourinho

By The Boy -

Erik Lamela comes with an almost unfathomable amount of baggage, but it would be pretty trite to not take pleasure in what can only be called the flashes of brilliance that he’s producing under Mourinho’s eye. If we remove the ‘yeah but’ element from evaluations like these, Spurs do play very exciting football under the Portuguese and do score lots of goals. Over a hundred in all competitions this term so far. And hey, I found a couple of sane people on social media who have noticed it too!

Botches had depth the first couple of years. Then he whittled it down. He infamously preferred a small squad of players and said so. This is one of the reasons he failed to manage to win anything. We always had too many injuries and burnt out before the end of every season.. The lack of strength in depth doomed him. He threw comps which was madness… A large quality squad with competition for places is needed to really compete on all fronts.

Agreed, it is a shame. Apparently he’d played so much first team football in Argentina and Italy from a young age that by the time he got to us in his early 20’s he was already damaged goods….

Great talent, if only he could have avoided so many of those injuries over the last few years, would get talked about as one of the best in Prem now.

Yup, under Maureen Lame La’s become a better bit part player but I’d still replace him for someone consistently good & fit.

And Poch’s bench had plenty of depth too!

Agree, at his best a joy to watch.

On currant form if he starts I’m happy and if he comes on with 20 mins to go I’m happy.
All in all he has enough skills or is annoying enough to opponents to keep our good form at the same standard.
Well done pammy ,don’t get fooking injured.

If he stays fit it will be his best season with us ,hopefully his middle aged growing pains have finally gone.
Famous last words…

Spot on, mate. When others were mewing and crying for Maureen to go he just kept his calm and moved on. Now we’re putting together a good run of form, but there are many challenges ahead. Maureen can handle them and get us some silverware.

Lamela is maybe the most skilful player in the team in terms of quick-thinking and sheer technique. His workrate and relentlessness are top-end too. Alas he operates at only 50% as he only uses one foot. And he always wants to stroke the ball into the net, when a simple blast would be much better. But even with that he is a wonderful player.

I’ve always been fond of Lamela. Has great technical ability, a brilliant dribbler and good work rate (although prone to reckless challenges and yellows). He’s been let down by injuries over the years and not been able to have a long run in the side. I believe that great things were expected of back in Argentina when he was a very young player, hence that appearance on Trans World Sport as a kid.

I wouldn’t want any other manager at the helm as we try to win this thing

If he could remain to stay injury free for the remainder of the season, big plus for the run in on current form.

He’s definitely got skills.. The more he plays the more I expect him to pick up a large injury…. We are approaching the business end of the season now and Maureen is lookung focused. Love his subs every game (rarely a like for like sub like botches late and ineffective moves), we have a savvy manager who knows what he’s doing… Maureen has never lost the ropey, he wants it… And Reggy is defending it… Up the Yids. 👌
