One goal to the good for England and this time Harry Kane plays in a faultlessly weighted ball for Mason Mount to slot away. England’s opponents are much better than San Marino, but in truth, that isn’t much of an accolade. As a Tottenham fan first and foremost, I’d prefer all our players to be locked in Hotspur Way when not playing for Spurs, but at least Harry Kane’s exercise today actually achieved something.
I suppose. City usually put chances on a plate for him, which is why he has the numbers he has (and he still misses his fair share – remember the CL quarterfinal last year, where he missed an open goal against Lyon?)
I like England, so I hope he does well in the shirt, just wondered what “natives” think of him.
I think Sterling gets lauded because he’s in a quality club team. I agree with you – I just don’t see his end product as anywhere near the level of Kane or even Foden.
Have to repeat what I wrote elsewhere – Kane is the one world class player in that lineup. But that hasn’t stopped the commentators from bigging up Sterling all game “excellent run, if they find him there, Albania can’t handle it” “Sterling made the second goal, it fell to Mount” instead of appreciating the perfect ball Kane sent Mount’s way – and I’m genuinely curious if anyone else sees what they see.
Is Sterling really that good and I just don’t get it? His miskick was comedy gold and he’s been running about quite a bit, but that’s about it.
Also, as for Mount – Dele should look at him and then take a good hard look inwards. Both Mount and Foden look ten times more interesting than Dele, and they’re 22 and 20, respectively.
