Video Evidence: Did You Miss This Glorious Moment From Erik Lamela vs Manchester United?

By The Boy -

A touch of class that came as a welcome antidote to Davinson Sanchez’s horrible ball out.

Erik Lamela had a solid enough game against Man United, with a passing accuracy of some 73.9% which is respectable enough for an attacking player (8/13 good passes in the attacking third).

The Argentine committed 4 fouls (no yellow card received) and drew 4, with a performance that was marked by a focus and physical presence which hopefully was enough to see him start again against West Ham on Tuesday.

Lamela was lucky to not get a yellow for the ‘tackle’ on McTominay. It was later than a booked taxi on a Friday night.

It was great up until he scooped the ball in the air. We lost possession. I think this summed up his performance. Superb, but let down by the key pass. Hopefully, in the next few games he sorts that out and stays fit.

He was good, allowed us to get out of trouble. He just needs a run of games to get his passing rhythm going.

I thought it was a typical Lamela performance. Worked hard, committed a few fouls, a few moments of brilliance but let down by his lack of end product. He takes up some great positions but too often wastes them by holding on to the ball too long, overplaying, not having a right foot etc. Would he be near the starting XI of any Top 4 competitor? We need better than Coco in my opinion.
