The international break allows club executives to re-examine where the squad is heading. Tottenham Hotspur might be one of the teams that wished the pause hadn’t occurred, considering their current form has them knocking on the door of the top-four.
In an interview with Spurs TV, the Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici spoke about where he sees the project going as there are only a handful of fixtures left in their season.
As Spurs hope to finish this last part of the season strong in hopes of clinching UEFA Champions League football for next season, Paratici states that the north London club is heading in the right direction.
“We are in a very good moment, not just about winning games but the performance of the team. The team improved a lot. You enjoy when you watch the game, Antonio [Conte] has done a fantastic job and the players too,” Paratici said.
“They are working hard every day, they are so focused, so committed, so we are much better than four or five months ago. This is the most important thing for us, and when we started this project in the beginning of the season, we said that we want to rebuild and achieve our target. It’s not just about the short term but long-term project. We are going in the right direction.”
Paratici’s tenure with Spurs didn’t get off to a good start, which led to the sacking of Nuno Espírito Santo and the hiring of Antonio Conte. The Italian tactician has steered the ship and now has Tottenham on the verge of playing in the Champions League next season.
Disagree with all the sourpuss comments below.. We are definitely heading in the right direction.. We are well in for top four as I predicted as soon as Conte arrived. I was laughed at repeatedly for this. Now we are looking like favourites if you check everyone’s fixtures.. Believe in the ConteDust and fingers and toes crossed Kane doesn’t snap an ankle ligament over the next few weeks.. Up the Yids.
Levy likes projects as he can save so much money during them. So much better than being a proper football club where trophies are expected every year.
Now listen up (not so) Fab.
You havent been at the club very long so get a free pass on this but please learn from it.
Spurs fans are sick to the back teeth of the word “project” and you mention it twice.
To us project = 5 year plan (repeated every 5 years).
Not after his disastrous summer transfer window we weren’t. Now we’re looking unlikely to finish in the top 4 too, how is that heading in the right direction for a once CL regular?
The latest press release from the ENIC politburo… Massive yawn.
