“Very disappointed” – Antonio Conte talks Ryan Sessegnon missing action due to muscle problems

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte shared some bad news for the north London club as they’ll be without full-back Ryan Sessegnon, who will be without the 21-year-old until the international break is over.

During his news conference, the Italian tactician stated that the Sessegnon is missing action due to a muscle problem. The defender was substituted off at half-time due to a repeat hamstring issue in Monday’s win against Everton.

“We are not talking about a new problem; we are talking about a situation that unfortunately is repeating. Not only in this season but also in the past. For sure, we have to try with the medical department to find a solution to help this prayer,” Conte said, per The Athletic

“But sometimes also, there is a predisposition to have this type of problem. And especially muscular problems. He’s very strong physically. Sometimes maybe to be so strong physically, instead of being good for your body, sometimes it can be a problem. If we are much stronger than your body can… it is difficult to speak because we are talking about science.”

The Spurs manager stated that he’s disappointed for Sessegnon, considering he was frequently in the starting eleven for the past month and a half. Furthermore, the young defender wants to use these next few months to show he’s the left-back heading into next season.

“For sure we are very disappointed, we hope to find the best solution to help him not have many injuries. We are hoping, as for one month and a half he was playing with continuity, his performances were good, excellent, he was improving,” Conte said.

“I understand; I have seen the disappointment of the player; he is very frustrated. This is the aspect I worry. He’s very young. To see a player like him frustrated about these injuries, is a pity, and also we have to work with him in the human aspect, to stay very close to him and support him.”

Spurs head to Old Trafford for a matchup between two clubs that are fighting for a top-four spot between Tottenham and Manchester United. Conte also stated Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga would miss this weekend’s fixture against The Red Devils.
