VAR Saves Spurs More Misery At Norwich With Fortunate Offside Decision [Video]

By Joe Fish -

We go into half time at Carrow Road 1-0 down against Norwich City, and, in truth, we are lucky not to be in a worse predicament.

Canaries hotshot Teemu Pukki had a goal ruled out by VAR for the type of marginal offside that is putting fans off the technology.

This video shows the incredibly ordinary defending that allowed Pukki to get in behind, with Jan Vertonghen misjudging the flight of the ball, and then the fine margins which ruled him offside by the point of his shoulder.

I don’t care if this is for Spurs or against Spurs, this isn’t what VAR was brought in for. It has spared us more misery here but as long as these are the parameters that offside is now ruled by, it will hurt us before long.

Mario Vrancic’s earlier goal for Norwich did stand and leaves us needed the same sort of second-half response that we mustered against Brighton.

That was never offside and I’m a Spurs fan. Norwich were robbed.
