Former Manchester United midfielder, Kleberson, has suggested that the club should sign Richarlison over Harry Kane as their priority signing in the upcoming transfer window.
Kane has been linked with a move to Manchester United, but Kleberson believes that the Brazilian forward would be a better fit for the Red Devils.
According to a report from Football London, Kleberson has said that Richarlison would be “perfect” for Erik ten Hag’s team, and would be a valuable addition to the squad. He believes that Richarlison’s ability to play as a striker and his work rate would make him a good fit for Manchester United.
Kleberson also stated that Richarlison has experience playing in the Premier League, and would be able to adapt quickly to Manchester United’s playing style.
He suggested that the Brazilian forward would be able to help the team in situations where they face a lot of pressure from opponents, as he is able to play a low block and put pressure on centre-backs.
The former Manchester United midfielder also stated that Richarlison should have signed for Manchester United instead of Tottenham during his time at Everton.
He believes that the Brazilian has not been given enough opportunities to showcase his abilities at Tottenham, as he is competing with some of the club’s biggest players. Kleberson suggested that Richarlison needs more game time and confidence from his coach and team to reach his full potential.
He told OLBG (via Football London):
“I’d really like to see Richarlison play for Man Utd,”
“He’s the kind of striker that could help United a lot. Especially with teams pressing, he can do a low block, he can put pressure on the centre-back and he can get inside the box.
“He’s played in the Premier League for many years, he understands the rules and he’s a really hard-working player. As Man Utd get more structure and consistency, winning more games, I think Richarlison is a player who could do a lot for the club.”
“When Richarlison was at Everton, I think he should have gone to Manchester United instead of Tottenham. It could have been different.”
“Now he doesn’t play much and he doesn’t get many opportunities. He’s competing with guys at Tottenham who are amazing players. He’s on the bench, but he’s competing with these big players.
“As a club, sometimes you need to take a risk because he’s not a bad player, he’s an amazing player. He plays for Brazil’s national team, he just needs game time and some confidence from the coach and the team. I believe he could easily do an amazing job for United.”
Richarlison has struggled to make an impact at Tottenham since joining the club for a record fee. He has only managed to score two goals in 22 appearances, which came against Marseille during the Champions League group stages.
Kleberson’s suggestion that Manchester United should sign Richarlison over Harry Kane is an interesting one. While Kane is undoubtedly a world-class striker, Richarlison’s ability to play in different positions and his work rate could make him a valuable asset to Manchester United.
