UCL winning manager unlikely to join Spurs as long as Levy is chairman

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of managers in recent months.

Antonio Conte will be out of contract in the summer and the London club have not managed to agree on an extension with him yet.

Although the 53-year-old has a clause in his contract that allows Tottenham to trigger a one-year extension in his contract, he has been linked with a return to Italy.

If Antonio Conte decides to move on in the summer, the London club will have to bring in a quality replacement.

Apparently, the former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is one of the managers on their radar but a move for the German seems unlikely.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy believes that Tuchel is not the right fit for the club and therefore his appointment is unlikely as long as Levy is at the club.

The journalist told TeamTalk: “The other name I would just mention briefly, that keeps being linked with Tottenham is Thomas Tuchel.

“My understanding is that Daniel Levy doesn’t see Tuchel as a fit for Tottenham. And Tuchel himself is not necessarily pushing that one at this stage.

“So I think that Tuchel cannot be considered a likely future Spurs manager or a frontrunner in any way. At least, not for as long as Daniel Levy remains at the club.”

Tuchel remains one of the best tacticians in Europe and he has proven himself at clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea. The German guided Chelsea to the Champions League title during his time at Stamford Bridge and there is no doubt that he is a proven winner. He could have been a quality acquisition for Tottenham.

It remains to be seen who the Londoners bring in to replace Conte should they fail to convince the Italian to stay.

Antonio Conte has been backed significantly since his arrival and Spurs will be disappointed if he decides to abandon his project at the Premier League club in the summer.

The Italian is an ambitious manager who has won trophies at his previous clubs and the fans will hope that he can continue managing the Londoners and guide them to a trophy soon.
