According to Football.London, Spurs will be without Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur when the season resumes following the World Cup.
Both players have been among Tottenham’s most consistent performers this season. They have played the most minutes for Spurs alongside the likes of Eric Dier, Lloris, and Harry Kane.
Conte will have to make do without Hojbjerg for Tottenham’s first leg of the Champions League round of 16 matches against AC Milan.
The Dane picked up his third yellow card of the Champions League campaign during their 2-1 win over Marseille and the rules state that three bookings result in a one-match suspension. The bookings are only wiped out after the quarter-finals have been completed.
Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentancur will be suspended for their Boxing Day fixture against Brentford after the Uruguayan picked up his 5th yellow card during the thrilling 4-3 win against Leeds United. He has been hugely influential for Spurs this season having scored crucial goals to win Spurs some important points in recent weeks including the 4-3 win where he scored the third and fourth goals to ensure that Spurs go into the mid-season break on a high note.
Conte will have to turn to Oliver Skipp and Yves Bissouma to produce the goods during the absence of the two midfielders. Bissouma has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in recent seasons with his performances for Brighton and had his contract not expired, he would have likely cost double the £30m plus potential add-ons that Spurs paid to sign him in the summer.
