Hojbjerg uses Twitter to tell the world what he actually wants [image]

Nothing speaks as convincingly as a photo of a player holding up the shirt on the club website, but a pleasing whisper can be almost as much fun. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will have triggered a few raised eyebrows after liking a Tweet that linked the 24-year-old with move to North London.

Hojbjerg is understood to be a Mourinho pick, which demonstrates a new approach from the gaffer when it comes to working within Daniel Levy’s financial parameters at Spurs.

Nothing’s done until it is done, but this looks an excellent indicator for us.

He was your best player hence your captain. Southampton are rubbish these days. I would take him over any of your other players but still we need much better… Iv never come across anyone who downvotes with multiple accounts. And upvotes themselves.. 🔔🔚

My fears are confirmed. He’s best off staying where he is then. 😆 We need a quality centre mid.

I’ve seen but it doesn’t mention the many poor backpasses that put the defence under undue pressure, shots on target and crossing both come in at 30 odd percent- not great. Unless there’s some sort of agent play going on I can’t see why a straight swap for kwp would be an issue personally, hojbjerg with a year left must be around the same value

I look at that many? The stat was based on 43games this season for Shampton & Denmark. If you want PL only it’s easy to find and that will tell you 78percent pass completion. It’s not high why would I make it up.

Where do you get this nonsense? Hojbjerg right?

Then what’s been his excuse for the past 2 year’s? He can’t let us down with his performances because he hasn’t played which is why 6 unbeaten. Im not here to take the piss it showed up on a saints news site. I put it to you all- what, why and where have you seen (not read) that he’s a decent player? We’re baffled down here. Wanyama was a far better player in almost every way

Yes fair comment, I’d be disappointed to spend £25m on him. In a window where not many teams have any money and with only 1 year on his contract…

Hojberg must be confused. He’s got Christian E telling him not to go there, with A neilsen telling him the opposite. Listen to the one with the medal mate. The other ones a loser.

I’d take him now.

One season at a club that knows he’s leaving for free could be very damaging for a player his age, if they decide to bench him or worse. It would set Hojbjerg back both mentally and physically whilst further delaying our rebuild. Highly doubt he’d arrive at Spurs the same player.

I don’t think the price has ever been £25m, that was likely disproved as fantasy if you listen to Alistair Gold’s account. I believe the price Everton actually offered was £14m which is closer to the mark for his worth with 1 year left on his contract in current times. He’s not that brilliant a player either, sort of another Wanyama or Dier.

When Eriksen made it clear he wanted out he let himself and the fans down with his performances.Hojbjerg is doing the same with you,his head isn’t with the Saints anymore.

His passing would be in the 80percent pass rate compared to Winks 90percent. Certain people on here won’t like him either for his sidewards and backwards passes but he won’t be bullied like Winks .

Tbh honest we’ve a squads worth of chod sat on the bench already and at the minute that’s where he performs best for saints. I understand what you say but he’s just not that good and you should be looking at better for 25m

He is worth £25m but why pay it if you don’t have to, unless a bigger club is interested I would offer £18-£20m max

Not completely, seems a nice fella and he has the odd half decent match but the way the tabloids bang on you’d believe otherwise, he hasn’t really improved since joining like we’d hoped and doesn’t it seem odd a player that can’t get in saints starting ix is pushing for European football? Certainly not a top 10 premier player or cl. Southern daily echo saints comments section would give you a fairly accurate assessment

He doesn’t have to score or assist,he is after all a defensive midfielder we have plenty here who can do all that. You should really be biggin him up cause if we don’t buy him off you,he has burnt his bridges at Everton he will be back on your bench(naughty step) for the start of next season. Like Big Jack used to say there are players like Bobby who can play and players like him that couldn’t ,but what Jack could do was stop you playing, that’s one of Hojbjerg’s best traits stopping the opposition.

The price touted since his loan began is around 11m, from what I’ve seen I’d gladly see us pay 15m or a straight swap with hojbjerg with maybe forster slung in for free lol just to clear the wages! At the end of the day saints need KWP certainly more than spurs need a hojbjerg, we’d be surprised to recoup what was paid for him

I have no problem with Levy leveraging the player’s wish to join us to get a better price – that’s just looking after the clubs money wisely. What we don’t need is a saga that drags on to the end of the window. It’s time to strike a balance.

Hypothetical question for anyone who’s interested – if you were in charge of the budget and this was an option, would you take Hoijberg now for £25m or wait one season and get him for free? Is one season’s worth of him worth £25m?!

Actually he was stripped of it just before we started getting results again and guess what- no hojbjerg in the team. We don’t rate him down here, can’t score, doesn’t create, negative passing, more often than not MIA and an atrocious captain. He’s barley premiership let alone champions league. I don’t believe spurs was his desired destination just a foil to bait certain other clubs to bid which has gone horribly wrong because everyone knows he’s chod, his scout and Jose are mates- probably said ‘don’t deny the hojbjerg rumours and we’ll buy kwp’.

Maybe it’s the thought of a player “gagging” to joins Spurs that gets to Danny and leads him to believe that the player’s current club are similarly “gagging” to get rid of him. Usually that isn’t the case and then we get the derisory offer and the swift ‘No thank you’, followed by more deluded bids that end up with the same result. If Danny’s persistence does wear down his opposite’s resolve, the player arrives at the last minute with little or no pre-season and not really contributing to the team in the first 2 – 3 months of the new season. Hopefully we can use KWP as a sweetener but Danny’s going to seriously overestimate his sale price that the Saints won’t accept a straight swap, leaving Danny to find some money that didn’t wind up in Uncle Joe’s duffel bags in order to make this transfer happen..

Wonder how long discount Danny will take to get this one over the line? Even if a player is gagging to join Spurs it takes forever.
