Source Close To The Club: Spurs making best endeavours to get ageing loose cannon off their books

By The Boy -

You guessed it, Danny Rose is the central figure here, and I am told by a source close to the club that it was no surprise that the winged-heel left back went to the press again, this week.

After being told politely that he wasn’t obviously in José Mourinho’s ongoing salvage plans, the now 30-year-old reverted to type and immediately gave an interview. Rose was quoted as saying that he would love to play one more time in front of Tottenham fans…

Thankfully, the club don’t share the boy’s allegedly dewy-eyed sentiment and perhaps feel quite rightly, that Rose would cut somewhat of a ‘yesterday’s man’ figure should he return to N17, even if it were to see out the remainder of his contract (which I understand would never be extended).

My understanding is that Tottenham have had quite enough of Danny’s innermost thoughts and in future are looking to discourage players with club specific frustrations from following in his chatty footsteps.

In the words of Del Trotter, ‘No way José’.

Rose I always categorise/defend as a ‘player only a fan could love’ – neutrals must have hated the swagger and puffed chest antics.

The problem with a player like that is when they go a step further and no longer just irritate the oppo…but their own fans too.

Ladies and gentlemen, Danny Rose
