Tottenham’s “special talent” will be a star in 2021/2022 season

By Bruce Grove -

Kevin Campbell is confident that new Tottenham signing Bryan Gil will prove to be a great signing for Tottenham in the 2021/2022 campaign.

The young Spaniard has just joined the Lilywhites in a player plus cash deal from Sevilla.

Erik Lamela went the other way in the transfer with Spurs expected to enjoy the talents of 20-year-old Gil for years to come.

He spent last season on loan at Eibar and he was impressive enough to persuade Tottenham to seal the transfer for him.

The youngster will come into a physically tougher environment in the Premier League.

Players from other competitions often struggle in the competition because of its physical nature, but Campbell believes he has the talent to excel.

He admits that the EPL differs from what Gil would have been used to, but he backs the Spaniard to impress in the competition.

Campbell told Football Insider: “I have seen a lot of him and he is a really great signing.

“He is young, quick, direct, clever and will be a real handful in the Premier League. He is still so young so he is only going to get better.

“Last season he was out on loan and impressed. He has good energy and he will keep trying to beat his man.

“I know the Premier League is different but Gil is a very, very talented player. I expect him to do very well for Spurs next season.”

Gil is currently away with the Spain Under23 squad at the Olympics and will only join Spurs after an extended break following the end of their participation in the competition.

Putting him under pressure to hit the ground running. You just never know with players. Let him develop at his own pace.

He might need to bulk up a bit.

I prescribe a Greggs loyalty card and a lot of gym work.

Steady on my son, I can remember quite a few pundits going nuts for Paulinho…’Signing of the Season’, ‘Makes Spurs so much stronger’

He turned out to be as much use a bag full of dead hamsters
