We now know who Tottenham will play and when at the start of the Premier League next month and there is every reason to feel positive that the lads will get off to a decent start.
Momentum is everything in Sport and a good start would set Jose Mourinho and his team up perfectly for a good season, however, a poor start can be an anchor around their necks for the rest of the campaign as was shown last season under Mauricio Pochettino.
Mourinho will know this and will be desperately keen to get off to a flyer and in all fairness, he has been given a decent opportunity to achieve that.
These are the first six games that Spurs will play when the season kicks off along with my predictions.
Everton (H) Win
Southampton (A) Draw
Newcastle (H) Win
Man Utd – Away (A) Draw
West Ham – Home (H) Win
Burnley – Away (A) Win
So, I reckon we will go unbeaten and pick up 14 points from a possible 18.
I will accept that we could lose away to United but at the same time, we could beat Southampton and looking at it like that we would pick up 15 points.
For me, a minimum of 12 points is required and even that would be a disappointment.
Let me know in the comments below how you think Spurs will do in their first six games.
Everton , that looks a good start.
See them first six games as a cricket over. then think “Gary sobers. 36 runs🌚
In isolation we might get 14 from 18 but there are nine games in twenty one days, Europa League and EFL and if Mourinho is targeting every competition there’s going to be wear and tear. League kicks off in 23 days, still no right back and striker. Not giving Mourinho much time.
Hope the Europa League hangover doesn’t do its stuff on following Premier League games.
Similar, but Everton will be going at it for revenge. I think our opening match could end in a draw. We should get the better of Southampton, but United look strong, with potentially an expensive signing or two in the way.
Everton: D
Southamoton: W
Newcastle: W
Man U: L
West Ham: W
Burnley: W
13 points.
Agreed, 12 points minimum from this but it’ll be interesting to see how we cope with all the ropey games on top, which may have a negative impact. The Man U game is our first six pointer and I have a good feeling about it, but no doubt we’ll be clobbered by Burnley
