Tottenham want to use Kyle Walker-Peters in a swap deal for Premier League midfielder

By Bruce Grove -

In their bid to land Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton this summer, Spurs could use Kyle Walker-Peters as a sweetener in the deal to sign the Dane.

Tottenham have made Hojbjerg one of their top targets this summer as Jose Mourinho continues to develop the team he inherited from Mauricio Pochettino, claims Football Insider.

Pochettino was grooming Walker-Peters to take over the right-back position at Spurs, but he was sacked earlier in the season.

Mourinho didn’t consider the Englishman part of his first-team plans and sent him out on loan to Southampton in January.

Football Insider reckons that Spurs now want to sign Hojbjerg from the Saints, but they aren’t willing to splash the cash on any of their summer targets because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The report is claiming that they would look to convince Southampton to accept Walker-Peters as part of negotiations to get the former Bayern Munich man.

The midfielder is eyeing a transfer to a top European side as he will have a season left on his current deal when this campaign ends.

He is reportedly not willing to discuss a new deal with the Saints, which could force them to cash in on him in the summer.

A bit like like trying to trade in a Lada for a Volkswagen Golf.
