Fancy a punt on Spurs vs Man Utd? Take our advice and don’t do it

By Bruce Grove -

It really is impossible to predict the outcome of the upcoming Tottenham v Man Utd clash because there is literally nothing to base one’s prediction on.

There is no recent form, no idea who will be match fit or not, no idea which players will adapt better to an empty stadium, home advantage has been eradicated and so on, the list of unknowns is fairly extensive.

To some degree, the Bundesliga has given an indication that the better teams continue to do well and the poorer teams continue to suffer but an analysis of the results has shown that previous results from earlier in the season are not the best of indicators, Bayern Munich apart.

In fact, one of the few things that can be taken from the Bundesliga start is that away teams are doing far better than before.

One can predict the line ups for each team and possibly get close to what teams Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may go with but that does not mean one can then derive an outcome from those respective line ups.

Who knows how well or if Harry Kane or Paul Pogba will play after such long lay-offs? No one can, not even the managers, it really is all guesswork and hope at this stage.

Then throw in the water breaks, five substitutes and other tweaks to the game and you get into a situation where the dynamics of the game are a lot different than what they were before the break.

Man Utd entered the suspension of football in very good form, Tottenham did not and so back in March it could have been argued that United had the upper hand and would have been a good bet for the win, one cannot say that now with any conviction.

The bottom line is that none of us can analyse this game in advance with any form of accuracy at all, it is a coin toss-up.

Same 😂 1-0 is highly optimistic. Its the only way i see us winning as maureen will set up as per usual.. More likely 2 or 3 to our 1 if i was a gambling man.. No pogs definitely helps our chances. I would stick someone to man mark fernandes he was beastly before the break.

Can’t see us keeping them out to be honest

The new five subs rule changes alot. Makes it harder for us because we don’t have strength in depth like others…. There was nothing wrong with 3 subs that was perfect. I’m all for exploring technology in games, but not changing basic rules and structure that has existed for 100 years plus.
