‘…Tottenham to complete two big January deals ‘ O’Rourke shares Spurs transfer plans after Van de Ven injury

By Mehdi Gokal -

The injury to Van de Ven could open the door for ‘Tottenham to complete two big January deals’

That’s according to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke who claims that Spurs will allow Eric Dier to leave only if they can sign a ‘stand-in’ for the injured Dutchman.

Micky van de Ven suffered a hamstring injury against Chelsea and was forced off before half-time which is set to keep him on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.

It has proven to be a massive blow for Ange who is short of defensive options at the back.

The only available back up for a centre-back they have right now is Eric Dier while Ben Davies has acted as a make shift centre back in Romero’s absence.

Although recent report claims that Levy is keen on selling Dier in January instead of losing him on a free in summer, it all depends on whether Spurs can bring in a proper centre-back in the upcoming transfer window.

Pete O’Rourke claims that Spurs will first seek to sign a ‘stand-in for Van de Ven’, which will then ‘open the door to an exit’ for Dier.

If they can not find such a player in the January window, Postecoglou will be forced to keep the England international for the remaining of the season.

January transfer window is going to be crucial for Spurs. How they perform in the market could determine where they finish in the league.

Despite the strong start to the season, the growing list of injuries has started to derail their season.

They have lost two consecutive games now and the performance against Wolves was far from impressive.

Romano claims that Spurs will not be spending crazy money in January but the pressure will be on Levy to deliver.
