Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Angel Gomes from LOSC Lille.
The 24-year-old central midfielder has established himself as one of the best players in Ligue 1, and Tottenham are prepared to provide him with an exit route in the coming months.
He will be a free agent in the summer of 2025 and a report from TBR Football claims that the player has already informed the French outfit that he wants to leave the club. A January move would be ideal for all parties, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can secure an agreement for him.
They will face competition from Manchester United, who are keen on bringing the player back to the club.
The midfielder has been described as “one of the best players” in the French league and he could be an exceptional long-term investment for Tottenham. He will add creativity and technical ability to the side from the central areas. Apart from helping them control the game, he will also create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates.
Signing a player of his potential for a nominal price in January could look like a major bargain. Alternatively, Tottenham could secure a pre-contract agreement with the player when the transfer window reopens in January and sign him on a free transfer at the end of the season. Either way, it would be a masterstroke if Tottenham can get the deal across the line.
The player has shown his quality in Ligue 1 and he will look to test himself at a higher level now. Regular football in the Premier League will help him improve and he would get to compete against world-class players as well.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up. Both Tottenham and Manchester United will be attractive destinations for the player.
