Tottenham still being linked with a transfer that would send shock waves through football

Tottenham continues to be linked with an audacious swoop for Arsenal man, Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The youngster has been told that he will be sold if the right offer for his signature comes and Mail Online is claiming that Spurs think he can be a solution to their problems at right-back.

The Lilywhites will look to strengthen their team this summer and the unreliable Serge Aurier is set to be replaced.

The Ivorian has been the club’s first-choice right-back for some time now, but he remains a player that cannot be trusted fully.

Mourinho knows that he will need squad depth and he apparently wants to sign Maitland-Niles to provide competition for Aurier.

Aurier may yet be sold with AC Milan looking very interested in signing him, but the Italians are struggling to meet Tottenham’s asking price.

Maitland-Niles is naturally a midfielder, but he has been used more often as a right back at Arsenal and he has supposedly done a decent job.

The report claims that Arsenal will accept any bid in the region of £20 million for his signature.

Both teams rarely exchange players because of the fierce rivalry between them and if this transfer does go through, it would send shockwaves through the footballing world.

Whether the Tottenham fans would accept him is also open to question and obviously, there is no guarantee at all that the player would want to make the move across North London.

Nothing sweeter than nicking talented youts from rivals. Bring him come if José wants him.

After the antics of Aurier we buy a non specialist unproven right back. Maybe, if we have completely lost the plot that is.

It isn’t happening. You need to read between the lines here.
Arsenal need cash and want to sell. It’s vaguely plausible that we could be interested because we need a RB and he has played there before.
The story is circulated in the media and because it’s controversial people will talk about it.
It’s designed to do 2 things: 1 – make it known to anyone who’s potentially interested that he’s for sale. 2 – suggest that his price is £20-30m.
It’s probably nothing to do with us, we’re being used for a story.

What this says to me is that they want to sell him and thus far have received no interest.

I wish we could get to the bottom of this rumour.
This bloke is a midfielder who “fills in adequately” at RB while others linked such as Castanet are full time FBs.
Surely this link is spurious?

NEVER EVER GOING TO HAPPEN!! I would guess he would be close to £40m to us. Even at £25m I cant see it happening.
