Tottenham star linked with a surprise move to Italian giants

By Mehdi Gokal -

Inter Milan have reportedly shown keen interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur’s captain, Hugo Lloris, according to a report by the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

It is widely known that Tottenham is looking to offload the French goalkeeper this summer,

The Frenchman has already admitted his desire to leave the club and Spurs are reportedly also willing to sell him after another poor season from him. His contract expires next summer and they will hope to cash in on him this year.

Tottenham have already secured a replacement for Lloris in the form of Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who is on the brink of completing a €19m transfer to the North London club.

Meanwhile, there have been rumors surrounding the potential departure of Inter Milan’s first-choice goalkeeper, André Onana, with Chelsea and Manchester United among the clubs interested in signing him. Tottenham were also linked with Onana at one point

If Onana were to leave, Inter Milan would need to find a new number one, and Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that they have identified Hugo Lloris and Paris Saint-Germain’s Keylor Navas as potential replacements.

Lloris has been a loyal servant to Tottenham throughout his career, but his age and a season marked by several high-profile mistakes leading to goals have prompted the club to consider cashing in on him.

A move away from Spurs might provide Lloris with the opportunity to rediscover his form and rejuvenate his career.

In addition to Inter Milan, Lloris has also been linked with a return to his hometown club, Nice, as well as a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, which would triple his current wages.

It remains to be seen where Hugo Lloris ultimately chooses to go. Will he follow the path of other prominent stars and head to the financially enticing Saudi Pro League, securing a comfortable retirement? Or will he be go back to his hometown club where it all started for him, driven by a deep emotional connection.

Alternatively, he may opt to continue competing at the highest level and embark on a new chapter of his career with Inter Milan, the Champions League runners-up this season.
