Tottenham have reportedly rejected a loan offer from Burnley for Eric Dier.
That’s according to Daily Mail (h/t The Athletic), who claim that the loan offer from the Premier League side has been rejected by Tottenham.
Ange Postecoglou does not seem to fancy the Englishman too much. He is yet to feature for Spurs this season and was not even been named in the squad that played Fulham in the League Cup.
He has previously been linked with a move to Fulham but reports claimed that the player would rather stay and fight for a place in the team.
Reports have also suggested Bayern Munich also are interested in the 29-year-old following Harry Kane’s recommendation. Thomas Tuchel is said to be keen on Dier’s versatility, though a move has yet to materialise.
TBH Says:
It is surprising to see a loan offer being rejected considering Spurs are keen on getting rid of him.
It has been reported that Spur would prefer a permanent sale over a loan deal and perhaps there is an interest from a club that is willing to sign him on a permanent deal.
Have Spurs changed their mind and decided to keep him as back up? Davinson Sanchez and Tanganga are being strongly linked with moves away as well while Rodon has already been loaned out to Leeds United.
This means Spurs could be left short at the back if an injury to the first-choice centre-backs occurs.
Any unfortunate injury would give an opportunity to Dier to try and force his way back to the team.
Whether he stays or leaves on loan remains to be seen.
