Tottenham receive a transfer boost as Marseille reject “very weak offer” by rival Premier League club

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has been given some hope in their bid to land Morgan Sanson as Olympique Marseille rejected Aston Villa’s opening bid for the midfielder.

Tottenham and Arsenal are two other Premier League teams that want to sign him, but Villa has looked to overtake them (The Express).

However, the Villans offered a bid that wasn’t close to what the French side expected and it was met with derision.

The midfielder is valued at £20million, a fee that shouldn’t be too much for a top English team like Tottenham to pay.

Villa has been spending ambitiously in recent transfer windows, but they may have blown their chance of landing Sanson with a poor bid.

Speaking on the rumours that Villa wanted the midfielder, Andres Villas-Boas says that the English side tabled a “weak” bid that was simply unacceptable.

‘We had a very, very weak offer from Aston Villa which we turned down. It was pathetic,’ Villas-Boas told French TV channel Telefoot Chaine via Mail Sport.

‘I hope that he (Sanson) continues to remain professional.’

This will come as good news for Tottenham who also wants him. They could prepare and make a better bid to land him.
