Tottenham ready to outbid West Ham for Serie A defender

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is set to sign Nikola Milenkovic after West Ham accepted defeat in their bid to add him to their squad.

The Serbian defender has one more season left on his current Fiorentina deal and hasn’t shown any willingness to extend it.

The Florence club is looking to cash in on him now, but they also want to make good money from his sale.

West Ham has been one of Tottenham’s main competitors for his signature with David Moyes’ side making the first official move to sign him.

However, money is an issue for the Europa League campaigners, who have failed to meet Fiorentina’s asking price for him.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Hammers are willing to offer just £12.7million for his signature, but it isn’t enough to tempt Fiorentina into selling.

Spurs is now set to win the race for his signature with the report claiming that they will offer £15million to sign him.

Juventus is another club that wants to sign him, but the Old Lady will also struggle to outbid Tottenham because their transfer budget is limited and a new defender isn’t their priority now.

Milenkovic will be happy to move to the Premier League and Fiorentina knows he might leave them for free next summer and that should prompt them accept an offer for his signature soon.
