Tottenham ready to do battle with Liverpool for quality youngster despite huge price tag

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is ready to battle it out with Liverpool for the signature of Lille striker, Victor Osimhen, according to the latest transfer speculation.

The Nigerian is one of the more in-demand strikers this summer after he impressed for the French side in the curtailed French Ligue 1 season.

He only joined Lille last summer, but his fine performances for them have seen a host of teams show interest in him ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.

Italian side, Napoli appeared to be in pole position to land the striker, with Express Sports claiming that they have matched Lille’s £75million asking price for the striker.

However, the same report claims that the striker’s preference is to play in the Premier League and that has kept the door open for English teams to sign him.

The Express also claims that Liverpool has made him a top target as they prepare to bolster their team amidst uncertainty over the futures of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Tottenham is also in need of reinforcements with the Lilywhites looking for a good backup striker to Harry Kane.

Osimhen is one striker that Jose Mourinho has on his wish list and the report adds that the Lilywhites will look to hijack Liverpool’s move for him.

It would be interesting to see if Mourinho can convince Osimhen to join as a backup striker and if Spurs would have the funds to make the transfer happen.

Personally, I find it very unlikely that Daniel Levy would even contemplate spending that sort of money, even in normal times, on a first-team player, nevermind a backup. But this is what the Express is reporting and they seem fairly confident in their “claims”

💯 percent, with full backs who can defend and wingers who can cross instead of Aurier getting caught out of position every ten mins.

Until Spurs change their ways about only using one striker,we will never sign a quality player to sit on the bench, and who could blame them.

If you chose Liverpool victor you’ll be spending a lot of your time on the motorway to London. Liverpool is a rubbish boring place victor. Choose Tottenham London son. Sefton park is nice though.
