Tottenham are preparing a second bid for Jacob Ramsey.

That is according to the latest from The Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick.

He reports that Spurs are now considering an improved offer after their initial proposal was turned down.

The initial bid included £20 million plus Giovani Lo Celso, but Villa swiftly declined. It was reported that Ramsey is considered a key player for Unai Emery.

But Tottenham remain undeterred as they evaluate a second bid to secure Ramsey.

The club is keen to add a box-to-box midfielder this summer, and the England U21 international is a prime target.

Ramsey, who joined Aston Villa’s youth academy at six years old, has developed into a key player for the team. His talent and maturity led to his first-team debut in February 2019, and he has since been a consistent performer.

In the 2022/23 season, the 23-year-old had a significant impact, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in 35 Premier League appearances. (Transfermarkt)

Spurs’ pursuit of the attacking midfielder aligns with their strategy of bolstering the squad with young and dynamic talent. However, Villa value Ramsey highly, with estimates between £40 million and £50 million.

This valuation and Villa’s reluctance to sell mean the Lilywhites may need to look elsewhere if they cannot meet these demands.

Meanwhile, Giovani Lo Celso, included in the initial offer, is in the final year of his contract with Tottenham. The Argentine midfielder is likely to depart as the club seeks to offload players who do not fit into their plans.

While the Argentine might prefer a move back to Spain, him being included as part of a deal in Tottenham’s improved bid as well remains a possibility.

As the transfer window progresses, Spurs will continue to explore options to strengthen their midfield, hoping to eventually secure a deal for Ramsey.
