Tottenham loanee Joe Rodon is eyeing a continued stint with Championship side Leeds United for the upcoming season.
Since joining Leeds on loan last summer, the Welsh centre-back has found a comfortable home at Elland Road, relishing his time with the club.
Recent indications point towards Rodon’s desire to part ways with his parent club, Spurs, if Leeds secures promotion to the Premier League.
Currently positioned in 3rd place in the Championship table with 73 points, Leeds is within striking distance of promotion, trailing 2nd-placed Ipswich Town by just two points and leaders Leicester City by five.
Should Leeds clinch promotion, the prospects look bright for Rodon to extend his stay with them in the English top flight next season.
Rodon has enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow Welsh players, including Connor Roberts, Dan James, and Ethan Ampadu, during his time at Leeds.
Rodon said (via Football London):
“Just playing, of course, is what everyone wants, but I think all of us together, I think it would be a really nice kind of journey if we did get there [the Premier League].
With the journeys we’ve all been on, now it’s all led us to this moment. I just think it would be great for the collective as well, all of us to be playing together in the Premier League.”
Rodon has been a linchpin in Leeds’ lineup this season, featuring in the starting XI for 31 out of his 32 appearances in the Championship, according to Transfermarkt.
The 26-year-old excels in two vital defensive metrics in the division, ranking 7th with a 72% success rate in tackling dribblers and 10th with 149 clearances. Additionally, he demonstrates composure in possession, boasting an impressive pass completion rate of 90.8%, the 8th highest in the league, according to Fbref.
Reports suggest that Tottenham is seeking a transfer fee of around £20 million to facilitate Rodon’s departure during the upcoming summer transfer window.
